DREW A WEEK LATER I placed the glasses on the counter and looked at my mate, who was serving another customer. I watched as she laughed at whatever the guy was saying as I returned the glasses to the self. I move up and lean against the counter, watching the interaction between them. Scout moved closer and stared. “Mate,” he murmured in my head. Ignoring him, my eyes stayed on her as my mind wandered over the previous week’s events. Ebony has been working in the bar for the full week, and all customers love her, even some of the older men.
