Chapter 7

EBONY I felt Drew’s eyes on me the entire time I was eating. Cleo was close by but stayed silent. I have never felt like this about anyone. I looked up at him and smiled. “You like what you see,” I murmured as a grin slid across his mouth. “Definitely,” he rasped as he moved slightly in his seat. I couldn’t tell what was wrong. Cleo giggled. “Mate is hard,” she whispered, making me blush. I had to look away from Drew. “Something got you all hot and bothered, sweetheart,” Drew said in an amused tone. Oh goddess, let the ground swallow me whole, please. I finished my food quickly. I looked up every so often to find Drew looking back at me. After we both finished food, Drew went to pay the bill and came back. I stood up and followed him out of the cafe. As we got outside, Drew stopped and turned around to face me. He grinned. “Shall we carry on shopping?” he asked. I stared at him. I wasn’t really in the mood to shop anymore. Drew bought me loads already. I didn’t want him to buy anything else, but before I could say anything, Drew spoke. “I want to take you to get some other bits,” he said, moving his head to the side. “You got clothes, but I was thinking we could pick up some books and other items you may fancy.” I licked my lips and looked around. Few people were around, but I could feel some eyes on me from somewhere. I hated being out for long periods of time, especially in a new place. You don’t know what’s lurking in the shadows. “Ebony,” Drew called out, placing his hand in mine. I looked at him and sighed. “I would like to go home,” I said and gave him a small smile. “I don’t need books.” Drew stared at me, but I continued. “You got a collection yourself,” I said, squeezing his hand to reassure him. “I could see what you have to offer.” Drew stared but nodded. He pulled me closer, making me come closer to his chest. I could feel the heat come off him. Drew leaned closer to the crook of my neck. I felt his hot breath fan my neck. Cleo panted in my head as he spoke. “I have a lot to offer, sweetheart,” he muttered. “I just need you to let me show you.” I felt my cheek blush more. Oh hell! He was a wet dream in the making. The way he made my panties wet with his words had me wanting to know what he could offer me. Drew pulled back and smirked as he moved mere inches to my lips. “Your arousal is something that is enticing Scout and me,” he murmured. “Keep it up, and I will have you bent over the backseat of my truck with my c**k deep in that cunt of yours..” Oh heavens! He’s a dirty talker. I don’t know whether I just creamed my panties again or I’m losing it. I need to focus. “Can we have our mate?” Cleo panted out in my head. “Like now?” I ignored her. I was having trouble concentrating; I didn’t need her horniness in on the matter. I cleared my throat. “Shall we go,” I whispered. Drew stared at me, but his eyes went to my lips and back. A smile appeared as he moved slightly but leaned into me and kissed my head. “Sure thing, sweetheart,” he said. “Come on.” Drew placed his hand in mine, and we returned to the truck together. As we got nearer, I noticed Drew staring off into the distance. He must have been mind-linking someone. I waited, but a shiver rippled through me. Cleo was up in my head, growling. I looked around but looked over my shoulder at the forest line. There stood a man staring at me. Who the hell was that? I stared at him as his eyes bore back. Cleo came closer and stared but growled. “Don’t know what he is,” she muttered. I don’t know how long we were staring, but Drew cleared his throat, making me look back at him. His eyes were full of concern. “You okay, sweetheart?” he asked, looking to where I was looking moments ago. I looked back, but there was no one there. Who the hell was that man? “I...” I said, but I looked at him and stopped. I didn’t know what to make of it. I knew the man was there, but it was hard to work out what he was from where I was standing. Drew walked over to me and stood before me, cupping my face in his hands. “Ebony,” he asked. “What did you see?” I stared at him but shrugged. “Someone was standing over there,” I said. “I couldn’t make out if he was human or shifter.” Drew looked over his shoulder to where the man was but looked back. “Maybe it was a rogue checking out the town,” he murmured, looking at me. I stared at him. I wanted to believe him, but something about how the man was looking at me, he seemed to know who I was. I sighed. “Never mind,” I said and smiled. Drew stared at me, still holding my face in his hands. He leaned toward me and kissed my head again. I smiled as he pulled back. “Let’s go,” he said. I nodded as he opened my door for me. I climbed in and closed it as Drew walked over to the driver’s side. He opened his door and slid into his seat. Drew started the engine and drove away. As we drove, we talked more. I knew Drew was trying to distract me from what I had seen earlier. I’m always alert when someone stares at me. I never know if they want to hurt me or are just doing what Drew mentioned, checking the place out. I have been wrong a few times, but you can never be too careful lately. The drive was shorter going home, but that may be to do with Drew. I loved the way he talked and what he represented. I was liking the fact that we were mates. He was handsome and knew how to treat a woman. Drew drove to the bar but parked around the back, which was new to me. He switched off the engine and looked over at me. “I have a surprise for you,” he said, catching me off guard. My eyes widened. “A surprise,” I said. “What kind...” Drew cut me off by placing his finger on my lips. I frowned, which made him chuckle. “I’m not telling you,” he said with a grin. “All you need to know, sweetheart, is to pick something stunning to wear and get yourself dressed.” I stared at him, but Drew moved his finger from my lips. I said nothing. “Come on,” he said, opening his door and jumping out of the truck. I followed him and got out of the truck. Drew came to the front of the truck and placed his hand in mine. He showed me the back entrance. When he opened the door, there were stairs and a door. I looked at him, feeling slightly confused. Drew pointed to the stairs. I walked up the stairs. I could feel Drew’s eyes, but I guessed they weren’t on my back. I felt his hands go to my waist as I went onto the top stop, and he pulled me toward him. I slammed into his chest as he growled. “Keep swaying that ass like that,” he grunted. “And I will have you pinned somewhere.” Why does he have to say such things? My cheeks blushed, but my core was on a fritz again. Damn mate bond. I said nothing as Drew pushed me forward but kept me close to him. He opened the door in front, and we walked in. I soon realized that there were two entrances to the flat, and this one was right at the end of the corridor. As I walked in, Drew made me stop. I looked around and turned to face him. Drew smiled. “You go in, and I will bring all your things,” he said. I nodded. I watched as Drew left and headed back down the stairway. I sighed and walked into the flat. I could have a shower while he brings the stuff in. Cleo moved in my head, but I wanted a shower and looked forward to the surprise that Drew had planned. I walked into the room I was in and went into the bathroom. I stripped off my clothes and left them in a pile as I closed the door with my foot. I switched on the shower as I heard the door open. I stayed still. I could hear Drew move around, but it went quiet. I felt my heart leap into my mouth. Would he come in here?
