CHAPTER 4 : Meet and See

After travelling for hours, between conscious and jetlag, Mikaela finally knows where she is now; her most-unwanted place.

It is a curse. She is supposed to ask first where she will work .The shine of facilities and salary promised by leo pushed her to sign a contract for a year.

And there she is, standing in D.E Corp huge building. Mikaela knows for sure that it belongs to Darren’s father which are being taken over by his son now.

She really want to escape from that place, but his feet feels so heavy to be moved on when she realized that everything has been gone too late.Aunt Salma had been taken to a new apertemen prepared by Leo, while Mikaela is taken directly to the place where she will work for a year.

One thing that make she a little bit relief is that, at least she will work in the same place with her old friend, Tiwi, although Tiwi had no idea about it since Mikaela keeps it as a secret for her surroundings.

Mikaela decides not to tell anyone before she oficially work there, she planned to make a surprise as she had accepted in a very big company, except for Aunt Salma, who knows it first. In fact, it is her who is in the state of shock now.

She is trembling as Leo brings her to see the leader of that company. Felt like waiting for the judgment day, she already knows who is the man.

It is the fate who brings her to the man. A man that she always think of, filling her heart with memories, and always be there in every her prays.

“You seem so nervous,’ said Leo when they enterd the lift, heading to upper floor, where Mikaela’s heart would stop for a while.

“Just a little.”

“Are you okay? Your face is pale”

“I’m okay, Mr.Leo”

“Alright then.”

The lift then stop. She was so nervous when Leo asked her to go first. They are welcomed by a sexy woman.

Mikaela knows that Leo tries to filrt with that woman, and she leaves him with his curiosity. That woman then brings them to the only room on that floor.

Mikaela could feel the intense situation like she would be hung up there. Besides, she just hope to work for a year.

That woman knocks the door before entering the room, while Leo and Mikaela wait outside.

When she is back, she asked them to come in, while Mikaela freezes. She feels like it is better for her to be invisible

They then enter a very cold room, at least that is what Mikaela feels. She even could not see her surrounding, and the air suffocates her so much. Mikaela is being intimidated by a man’s stare that comes from the eye that she misses so much, yet she is afraid of.

“Hi Mr. Darren, how are you?”  asks Leo.

Hearing Darren’s name, Mikaela is trembling, she could not move her body, her lips and eyes suddenly become numb.

For seconds, no answers from Darren makes Mikaela feels so uncomfortable.

“I bring you my best man, she is the best among the best,” Leo starts talking.

“Who is she?”

Darren’s voice makes Mikaela’s heart flutters which means she misses that man very much. But it seems that Darren does not recognize her anymore, since he asked Leo about her, or it is just Darren has not seen Mikaela’s face.

"She will be your secretary now," said Leo, sitting on a sofa without any permission. Mikaela stands still, has got no idea where Darren is standing.

"Are you kidding me? This girl?"

Mikaela is a little bit surprised for what she heard from Darren. Does not he see Mikaela yet?

She does not have any expectation to Darren, since that man will get married soon. But at least, after long time no see him, she would like to maintain a good relationship with him.

"But, she is beautiful, isn't she?"

Mikaela thanks to Leo to defense her.

"You know, Mr. Leo. I need someone who is a smart worker and having politeness."

Sounds of clatter of steps are heard around that room, and Mikaela could just collaps from hearing the sound.

"Do you see this girl? I am talking to her, and how could she just put her head down without looking at his boss? It is so impolite?" yelled Darren while stopping before Mikaela.

Mikaela sees Darren's black shoes. She slowly raises her head. Her sight is straight to that man, the man's chest precisely, which is covered with an expemsive shirt.

Mikaela is a little bit hesitant to raise her head more. When she exactly stares at Darren's eyes, Mikaela almost cries. Mikaela almost cried. How much she missed the man who looked at her filled with hatred, and she could feel it.

Darren grinned, staring at Mikaela from toe to toe.

"Isn't she beautiful?" asked Leo while sipping the champagne brought by the woman who finally Mikaela knew was Darren's secretary.

"Your taste is very low Mr. Leo."

Darren did not take his eyes from Mikaela who gasped and remained frozen in place to hear Darren's words.

"Is it true?" Leo is still acting.

Darren steps away from Mikaela and approaches Leo. The man took his glass glass and poured a little champagne in the glass and offered it to Leo, asking him to toast.

"But since you brought it all the way here, I will accept her."

Mikaela exits the room limply, remembering how Darren was unfriendly to her. She immediately turned on the cellphone that she had turned off earlier.

Several messages entered her cellphone. From Rendy, Daffa, Aunt Salma and her best friend.

The first thing Mikaela thought about was contacting Tiwi and ignoring all incoming messages. She wants to tell everything to her friend.

Leo told her to go home first to rest because she had to start working the next day. But how can Mikaela rest in peace and comfort when things are like this? She needed someone to calm her heart and Tiwi was the right person for her. Aside from Tiwi, her best friend, Tiwi is the person she is most likely to meet now.

Mikaela waited for almost two more hours at the cafe near Darren's office, until finally Tiwi hurriedly ran over and hugged her. The time was twelve o'clock, seven minutes, lunch break for Tiwi.

Mikaela, I miss you so much." Tiwi hugged Mikaela tightly, and so did Mikaela.

"Miss you too."

"I'm very surprised you're here." Tiwi invited Mikaela to sit down again.

Mikaela looked around, like looking for something.

"Don't worry, Darren would never come to a small cafe like this."

Tiwi who had previously heard many stories about Darren understood what Mikaela meant.

“You know? you will be very surprised to hear my story. "

"What's wrong? You look so pale."

"I will work at your place."

The sentence was successful in stopping Tiwi's activities who were picking out food.

"Didn't I hear wrong?"

Mikaela shook her head slowly.

"You know, the company belongs to Darren now."

"Of course."

"Then? Are you crazy? Are you ready to meet him? Do you know he's engaged?"

"I know everything, you know that, I have no other choice now. I have signed a work contract."

"How could you do that?"

Mikaela recounted the incident since she applied for work until she was called by Leo for an interview which was only to find Darren a secretary.

"So, Mr. Leo threatens you to sue hundreds of millions if you refuse to work?"

"I don't think he's joking, it's my fault because I hurriedly signed the contract. "Mikaela began to despair.

"But I think it's too much. I know Mr. Leo, he really likes to joke, maybe it's just a joke."

"Then what should i do?"

"Have you met Darren yet?"

Mikaela nodded.

"Then? What did he say?"

"He accepted me for work. But ..."

"But what?"

"You know, I think he really hates me."

"I know, if Daffa didn't recommend me to work for this company, she wouldn't hire me, because I'm your best friend."

"Forgive me."

"Never mind, it's not your fault. Then, what will you do? I have never heard that Darren's secretary will resign, but after your arrival I think the woman will be moved or she will resign, because as I know  she is very clever and diligent in working."

“I'm still confused."

"Have you told Daffa or Rendy?"

"I haven't told them yet."

"I hope they will help you."

"I won't tell them first, I don't want to keep bothering them anyways, after all Daffa already has a wife."

"Mikaela ..."

"I'll try it, I'll work my best, I don't want to disappoint the people who helped me."

"Are you sure?"

"Aren't you on my side?""

"Of course I will always be there for you whenever you need me, but not now. You know I'm hungry, and my lunch hour is only an hour."

Mikaela chuckled, she us amused by Tiwi, they immediately ordered food, because Tiwi did not have much time and Mikaela also had to immediately return to her new apartment to rest.

She was very tired of long journey and she had to deal with someone from her past.

"You should really prepare yourself tomorrow. Because the rules in the office are very strict." said Tiwi while chewing the food.

"I know."

"Prepare your heart too."

Mikaela frowned.

"Because Darren's fiancee often comes to the office to deliver lunch, or just stops by."

Mikaela's hand movements stopped when cutting the meat on her plate, she was not surprised by Tiwi's words, naturally, Mikaela would also do the same if she was a fiancée from a super busy man like Darren.

"As it is now." Tiwi continued. "Look behind you." Mikaela turned her head back like what Tiwi said

"A beautiful woman with a blue shirt, long hair, a tall girl with a body that makes all the women in the office jealous. She is Darren's fiancée."

Mikaela watched her carefully, with her elegant and elegant style, she was not ashamed to bring a beautiful bright blue basket. He smiled kindly to all those who passed and reprimanded him.

"She's more beautiful than I see in the photo." Mikaela's comment slowly looked back at Tiwi.

Previously, Mikaela had seen Darren's fiance from the internet, and it appeared that beyond Mikaela's imagination, the woman was many times prettier than Mikaela had ever seen.

"Are you okay?" Tiwi was a little worried and stopped eating.

"Of course, give me the address of your residence, I live in an apartment nearby."

"Really?"

"Yes, I live with Aunt Salma."

"Alright, I'll send my address, after work I'll stop by your apartment, I want to meet with Aunt Salma."

Mikaela smiled, she was grateful that Tiwi was beside her now. So he didn't look very miserable, seeing how incomparable he was to Darren's fiancée. Like the sky with the earth.
