Kayla I leaned back in the Uber as it wove through traffic. I quickly texted Damien: [I have to go, something came up.] He responded almost immediately: [Is everything okay? Take the day off.] I sighed and shoved the phone into my pocket. At least he wasn't arguing with me. When the car pulled up to my building, I saw Chelsea. She was sitting right on the hallway floor outside my apartment door. "Get up," I said, reaching down to pull her arm. "Do you even know the last time they cleaned these floors?"
