At first, all Ashley saw was total darkness before a little light began to trick in and then everywhere was bright as her eyes opened.
She was confused as to where she was.
Her brain was too tired for her to think, and she felt so weak that she couldn't turn her head to look around.
" You are awake, " someone said to her.
Ashley strained to look in the direction of the voice. A female nurse stood beside her bed smiling politely down at her.
Guess she was in the hospital she thought. But what happened? She tried to recall. All she could remember was holding a piece of paper in her hand. The content she couldn't remember.
" I will get the doctor for you, " the nurse said in a kind voice and hurried out the door.
