THE NEXT MORNING, Evron was having dinner with her parents and siblings when Kaiden barged into the dining hall.
“Chief.”
Hindi agad nag-angat ng tingin si Evron. “Ano ‘yon?” tanong niya.
“Kaiden, are you okay?” concerned na tanong ni Nylah. “You looked tense.”
“Okay lang po ako, Tita,” tugon ni Kaiden.
“Report,” wika ni Evron at uminom ng tubig.
Kaiden took a deep breath. “We found her.”
Mabilis na ibinaba ni Evron ang hawak na baso at tumayo. “Alis na po ako,” paalam niya sa magulang at mabilis na tumalikod saka umalis.
Kaiden politely bowed to the Chief’s family before following Evron.
Evron’s face remained expressionless, but Kaiden knew him well enough.
The Chief’s eyes had changed.
“Her?” Ellis muttered and looked at his parents and siblings. “Who’s her?”
