The morning of Harley’s Luna ceremony, I was up before the sun. I paced in front of the window like a wolf who couldn’t quite believe the hunt was over. There was a hush in the packhouse, the kind that settles right before a storm or a celebration. I was far too excited, and when I looked over to see that Harley was still asleep, I couldn’t help but smile. Today was a big day. Not just for her, but for all of us. And as the sun slowly started to rise, the packhouse woke up too. I heard people coming in and out as they finished preparing for the ceremony. I could smell the bread that had been put in the oven to bake. I could hear the hum of voices as orders were given out. I smiled as I ran over to the bed and jumped on it. Harley startled as she sat up, and I laughed.
