I woke up from the unexpected nap and silently cursed Archer and his stupid cloth of poison. I sat up and eyed the folder on the coffee table. I ignored it and went into the kitchen to grab something to eat and drink. I grilled a cheese sandwich and poured myself a big glass of orange juice before I sat back down and opened the folder.
“Ok, let’s do this,” I muttered. The print was clean and simple without any flourishes. Basic font with easy-to-read text. “Rule one: Consent must always be given,” I read aloud. Consent wasn’t just about s*x. It was about everything from s*x to conversation to food and even kissing. I understood why it was the first rule. According to the contract, it was also the most important rule. It wasn’t just for my safety, but for Archer’s as well.
“Interesting,” Nyra remarked. I ignored her and moved on to the next rule.
“Rule two: Daily s*x,” I rolled my eyes. Still, I made sure to read through it. And I was surprised. It wasn’t just s*x. It was kissing, cuddling, and even oral s****l activities. On top of that, it wasn’t just about it being daily. It could even be multiple times a day, depending on Archer’s appetite. “Moving on…” I said as I moved on to the next rule. “Rule three: Never leave the dungeon,” I looked around and frowned. The place I was in didn’t feel or look like a dungeon. It was an apartment, and it was luxurious. But I did have to consider that. For three months, I would be stuck in here. Which led me to the next rule. “Rule four: No contact with the outside world,” that meant the only person I would see was Archer. I assumed I wouldn’t have any phone privileges. Not that it mattered. It wasn’t as if I had family or friends who would even miss me.
“Your work colleagues might,” Nyra pointed out, but I shrugged. I highly doubted they would truly worry about me. Plus, I had a feeling Archer would have taken care of that.
“Rule five: No secrets…communication is important,” I read aloud. I wasn’t sure if that had anything to do with the past, but I didn’t exactly like it. I was a private person, but then again, for the next three months, Archer would be the only other person in my life. I sighed softly. I could deal with that. “Rule six: Weekly check-ins to make sure both are still on the same page…well…” I didn’t have any problem with that either. So far, all of the rules were straightforward and simple. “Rule seven: s*x includes all sorts…to be discussed,” I thought about that for a moment. I agreed that it would be a good thing to discuss it. That way, we could figure out what each other liked and disliked. “Rule eight: No feelings…do not fall in love with one another,” I scoffed at that.
“As if,” Nyra commented, and I chuckled.
“He has better luck of…oh well, maybe someone fell in love with him…or he fell in love with someone. Rule nine: Free food, comfort, and entertainment,” I, of course, had no issues with this rule. In fact, I liked it. Archer would make sure I had everything I enjoyed and loved. “Rule ten: After the three months, it's over. No extensions, and no telling anyone what happened,” I nodded at that. But it was what came after the rules that made my heart skip a beat. “Archer will hand Malrik over after three months with no strings attached,” I read, and my voice shook on his name. The letters blurred. I blinked as I tried to focus. I reread the contract to make sure I didn’t miss anything important. But the contract truly was plain and simple. Of course, there were things that we needed to talk about, but I knew my answer. But I didn’t want to make the decision without truly thinking about it.
“He wants s*x. He needs it like air. He told you that, honestly. He isn’t a liar,” Nyra said. I closed the folder and rested my palms on the cover. I heard the door unlock, and a moment later, Archer stepped inside.
“May I come in?” Archer asked, and he stayed in the doorway with one hand at his side, the other on the frame.
“You already did,” I said, and I expected my voice to shake. But it didn’t. “We do need to talk,” I said as I tapped the folder. Archer shut the door and joined me on the couch.
“Let’s hear it,” he said.
“Ok, following the rules…let’s go through it together,” I said. Archer merely nodded. I noticed he wasn’t quite comfortable as he twitched almost involuntarily. “Are you…ok?” I couldn’t help but ask.
“Just…hungry,” he managed to whisper. I nodded, although I didn’t quite understand it.
“Ok, well…let’s run through this as quickly as we can,” I said. We spent the next hour going through the contract. We agreed that consent was a must and that no meant no. Archer assured me that he would contact my boss at the café. He also assured me that my apartment would be kept safe so that I had a place to return to when this was all over. As soon as we were done, he looked at me and waited. Instead of answering him, I picked up the pen and signed the contract.
“Thank you,” he said as he signed the contract as well. I expected him to jump me after that, but all Archer did was close his eyes and rest his head against the back of the couch. I noticed he was trembling.
“Um…” I wasn’t sure what to do. Clearly, the hunger was doing something to him.
“It will pass,” he said, and I nodded even though his eyes were still closed.
“He needs to feed,” Nyra said, and I silently agreed. I glanced at the white door. Archer had explained that he would prefer that all s****l activities happen beyond that door. I knew that he needed something right now. I slipped off the couch and kneeled in front of him. He opened his eyes and tiredly watched me. I spread his legs and positioned myself between them. I placed my hands on his knees and watched him closely.
“Harley…” he whispered, and I relaxed.
“We discussed the contract, Archer,” I said as I kept my voice low. “And there are still some things that we need to talk about…but right now, I think you should just let me take care of you,” because wasn’t that what this was all about? Taking care of his hunger? I could tell that he wanted to argue, but he was too hungry to fight it. “Just say yes,”
“Yes,”
