Velvet Prison

♛Harley♛ I woke up on a couch that felt richer than anything I had ever touched. I sank into it, and the fabric felt soft and luxurious. The air smelled like cedar and rain and something faintly sweet. I opened my eyes, and light spilled across a room that did not belong to me. “Not home,” Nyra whispered. I sat up too fast and the room tipped, then steadied. A wide living room unfolded in clean lines and soft edges. Books on a low table, stacked in neat towers. A rug so soft my toes curled when they found it. A glass bowl on a console held white pebbles, pointless and beautiful. “Hello?” I called out, and my voice sounded small in the pretty quiet. But there was no answer. I spotted a bag that looked like mine, but I had no idea where I was. My shoes were sitting neatly next to the couch, and a soft blanket had fallen to the floor. Then I remembered the man in my apartment. The one that had taken me. Panic filled me, and I looked around. Open plan living room and kitchen, but this place was beautiful. Unlike my apartment. I saw a door and rushed over to it. Of course, it was locked. And as I looked around, I noticed that there weren’t any windows. I was trapped. “Harley,” a voice whispered, and I spun around to see him coming into the room. “Good. You are awake,” “Yes,” I said as I stared at him. “What did you do to me?” “I brought you here and…if you would just give me a few minutes to explain everything, you will understand,” he said, and I frowned. “You drugged me,” I said, and I wanted to bite him and the word both. “I did,” he said, and he didn’t even flinch or look ashamed. “But you are safe here,” “Safe?” I repeated, confused. “Why did you bring me here in the first place?” “Because I have an offer for you,” he said as he pointed to the couch. “Please, give me a chance to explain,” “Ah…no, let me go,” I demanded. “No,” he answered. I stared at him in surprise. I wasn’t sure what to do in this situation. I could tell that he was strong. Far too strong for me to try and fight. I could also tell that he was a wolf. “My name is Archer,” he continued. “And I have an offer for you,” “An offer? What the hell is this?” I asked. He gestured again at the couch, but I shook my head. “I offer you three months,” he said, and all I could do was stare at him. “Three months here. Food. Comfort. You will be treated with care,” “What aren’t you saying?” I asked. “What’s in it for you?” “s*x,” he stated simply. “All I ask is three months of s*x,” “Are you crazy?” I spat out in horror. Surely this guy wasn’t in his right state of mind. “Maybe. But after the term is over, I will give you what you want more than anything else,” “Oh? And what would that be?” “Malrik Draegor,” he said, and everything inside of me went still. “What?” “You heard me. I will hand over Malrik Draegor, and you can do whatever you want with him,” he repeated. “You are insane,” I said, and I wished the word sounded stronger. It didn’t. It sounded tired. “I am hungry,” he said, and that was worse than insane. “I am being honest with you, Harley. I have an insatiable hunger for s*x, and all I ask is that you give consent for three months. After that…it's over. You walk away with something you want, and I am somewhat satisfied,” “I don’t believe this,” I muttered. “Of course, you can refuse,” he said, and I glanced at him. “You can refuse right now, and I will take you back to your apartment,” I shook my head. “I don’t…you want me to stay here and give you my body for three months?” I asked. I needed to understand this. Archer nodded. “And…what if I say yes, but then I change my mind?” “You can say no at any time, and the contact will end. If you agree, rules will be put in place, Harley. Consent is important. Not just for you, but for me as well,” “You…you kidnapped me!” I reminded him, and he nodded. “I did, and I’m sorry…I enjoy the thrill of it,” he said it so simply it was as if he was talking about the weather. “You don’t need to give me an answer right now, Harley,” he added. “Oh?” “I will give you forty-eight hours to think it over,” he said, and then he picked up a folder that I hadn’t noticed from the coffee table. “Everything is in here,” “Um…” “Including the clause where I hand deliver Malrik to you,” he said, and I frowned. “How do you even…wait…” I shook my head. “I don’t think I want to know,” “I know that this is a lot to take in and…I’m sorry for the way I had to bring you here, but…just read through it,” he said before he took a step back. I frowned as I watched him closely. “I am not going to hurt you, Harley…just read it,” and then he turned and went to the door. I watched him unlock it, and then he was gone. Of course, he locked the door behind him, and I sighed as I sat down and stared at the folder. This all felt so crazy to me, but I would be lying if I pretended like I wasn’t interested. Malrik had destroyed my life, and Archer was offering me the chance to get my revenge. Could I really pass up an opportunity like that? “The question is, can you offer up your body like that?” Nyra questioned. I didn’t need to answer that question because we both already knew the answer. But I wasn’t about to go into this blind. I got comfortable on the couch and opened the folder. ♛♛
