THE JOURNEY BEGINS

The elderly man who was leaning against the wall near the window stood up and slowly approached the warrior. Deciding to exercise caution and to take things slowly, he merely asks, "How are you feeling now? Does it still hurt? ". Although he felt a little dizzy, Grendale nodded that he was feeling okay and asked what happened. The girl introduced herself as the healer who lives outside but near enough to Inamorta and the elderly man as the mayor of Inamorta. They had followed him to the caves when they had noticed him going somewhere in the middle of the night, and had kept an eye out in case he needed immediate assistance. The mayor asks him about what had happened that led to Grendale travelling like that to the caves in the dead of the night. Grendale explained everything from his meeting with the old sage to facing the monster. Both the mayor and the healer listened in shocked silence. "hmm.. So it is what we had always feared. The decayers have returned for revenge for their lost battle. Sadly, now we don't even have Shifu to help us. What are we going to do? It will become 10 times more difficult to stop them now with Shifu gone?". Grendale, still wincing from pain, got up and declared that he would do it. He would put a stop to them all as he was meant to. In one unison the mayor and the healer immediately said no and ordered him to lie back on the bed. "Are you nuts? You can't go out like this, let alone face them. You barely survived the last attack. It was a good thing we were there and brought you here to heal you in time or who knows what would have happened? We would have lost our only hope. There are many death defying dangers out there. You are not going anywhere without proper healing", the girl scolded as she rearranged the bandages. " I am fine. Nothing happened to me. It's just a few scratches here and there, that's all. I am a warrior and we warriors know no pain. Please let me go. I have to avenge my master". Despite his whining and protest, both the mayor and healer were successful in making him stay put. 13 days passed in the practice of the magic bolt. Grendale soon got a proper hold over it and was successfully able to conjure an even stronger and powerful flame bolt without having to concentrate much and wasting energy. One night when he was asleep, he had a very strange dream. Shifu visited him. He called out to Grendale and spoke in whispers, "Grendale.....I am back but barely.... I don't have much time.... in the morning, set course towards the rising sun and come to the ancient ruin caves via the evergreen forest..... I have something of grave importance to give you.... but be careful with every step....this is a trial of your worthiness of this gift.... the King of Doom has managed to gain more power and his aura has spread while mutating many creatures into dangerous dark beings ". Grendale woke up in a flash. Many minutes passed as he tried to absorb all this. Since he was already up, he quickly took a freshened up and went to the mayor's house. Fortunately, the healer girl was also there talking theories about a new herb to the bored Mayor. As soon as they saw Grendale, the healer gave him a once-over check-up while the mayor asked about his well-being. Grendale narrated the whole dream to them and they fell in deep thought. The mayor slowly spoke, " Yes, I think now it's time that you fulfilled your destiny. But before you go, I have something for you". Saying this, the mayor went to the mantle piece and moved a mini statue. A wall behind a book shelf beside the fireplace moved and a hidden room came into view. He called Grendale to come with him and went inside. The mayor lit the wall torches and guided him to a cellar where a big painting hung on a distant wall. It was a painting made by Shifu in remembrance of the mystic sword of MAG-BLADE. Showing the sword he said, " This is the legendary sword of MAG-BLADE which is said to contain unbelievable powers. This is the only sword that can help you defeat the King of Doom and end his darkness. But it's whereabouts are unknown to all except the descendents of Magnamus, the first King of light. I have heard that his descendent lives in the capital city of Florenum. You must go to him and obtain the location to gain the sword of MAG-BLADE. You are the only hope left now ". The mayor then gave him a steel gladius and said," Take this with you. It's highly dangerous out there. But don't worry. You can protect yourself with this sword, which has definitely seen some good swings. On your journey you'll come across many such magical weapons, like the thorn, the needle sword and the blade of the dead. Take them. Each of them are unique in their powers and will help you overcome many obstacles. May light lead you to victory ". Grendale promised that he would never quit and would come back only after he defeated the darkness. On his way out, the healer gave him a bag of coins and 2 health potions in case he got too injured. The guards at the border met Grendale and waved him goodbye on his way out. Thus Grendale's journey began. He crossed the mountains and came to the edge of the evergreen forest. This forest once contained many magical creatures like the jade spiders whose webs were used to make silky smooth clothes of tough quality and sleek designs, horned porcupines, carnivores Venus flytraps ( which can grow up to 15 feet and were gentle plants unless they were hungry) which made them great security to precious treasure vaults and many more... but from the time Shifu disappeared and darkness had spread everywhere the forests and everything became corrupted with decay and evil. Taking a deep breath, Grendale entered the forest, which was eerily quite a magical forest. Every step needed to be carefully placed lest it led to triggering something...*Gulp*...vicious. Grendale kept traveling further without a second glance behind. He passed through a dried up stream and crossed many fruit trees that had grown wild without anyone tending to them. Still, a faint sense of being constantly watched still lingered around. ' What has become of this once beautiful forest? ', Grendale wondered as he wandered...*Ahem*...travelled further. One can only hope for everything to fall into place easily, don't you agree? Stay tuned.
