Chapter 68
The voice Dana couldn’t quite place had disappeared. The suggestion of someone near her was gone.
What was she supposed to do to save all creation?
“How am I going to do that?” she asked the emptiness one more time. No reply came back to her.
This impossible vision still spread before her, the blackness creeping closer. A line of silver zig-zagged its way closer to her, slipping quickly from one thread to the next.
It flashed by and kept going until it was out of sight.
And then…
She held her breath and waited.
And then nothing.
No silver flash. No shift in the infinite array of lines. No progress toward the black hole swallowing everything on the horizon.
