Chapter Sixteen. Meradith Whitestone regarded her youngest daughter as they ate the snow bunny stew at the small table in Eliza’s quarters. She fished around the bowl, finding the added vegetables that were unusual to her taste buds. Meradith had, of course, eaten exotic vegetables on visits to the Ice Palace in her past, but she had never acquired the taste for some of the more bitter dark green varieties. However, food was an expensive commodity, and Eliza’s mother would never waste it.
