I found my parents, along with Josh, injured and barely alive. While I was on my way I had imagined a lot of situations but it didn't cross my mind that they would be fighting to stay alive. "Dad," I cried out, jumping from Maverick's arm and rushed to my father's side. Out of three of them, he was the most injured one. His pulse was barely there and I feared losing him before we even got the chance to treat him. I can't lose him. "Dad…," I wailed, shaking him. His eyes were closed, his mouth open. If not for the scrunch of his forehead and his battered form, one would say he is sleeping peacefully. But I know better. "Dad… Maverick, he is not responding," I hiccuped. I have never seen my dad in a vulnerable situation, and the sight before me broke my heart. He was the man who hid his
