Everybody jumped upon hearing a familiar trumpet,
it was one that signifies that Prince Thaddeus was back in the palace. The very thing is not usual and not something that would be done if he would be back in the palace—it was only used so they would be alerted when he would come. Lord Xerxes has a hunch that he would be back earlier than what was planned.
“What? I thought he would be back in three days?” questions Clarisse who seemed to be in panic to the situation. Her face had mimicked Aeui, hence keeping her being gone in the palace as something safe and nobody can be the wiser.
