Resting a hand against the wall, Serena raised her head to feel the hot water streaming over her face. In all the things that happened tonight, only one thought kept haunting her; the doctor could have died because of her. Her arm trembled and she lowered her face, letting that sink in. She clutched her hand over her mouth, stifling a sob.
She was vaguely aware of the shower door opening but she felt too shattered to even bother about it. Kassandra stepped out of her soaked clothes, gazing at the young woman through the transparent glass. It made her heart flutter. She slid open the door, stepped under the shower, into the steam, right behind her, embracing her as the hot water covered her head.
