Jason's POV "Alpha Jason, it's of no use. We're getting the same reports" Silas said, walking into my office and I looked up at him with a heavy frown on my face, hoping I wouldn't be receiving bad news but the look on his face already gave me the answer to what I need. "What are you taking about Silas?" I asked him and he dropped a file on my desk and let out a sigh looking frustrated. "The attacks on the pack borders, they are getting increasingly troublesome with each one deadlier than the last" He said and my heart dropped, I turned away from him and looked out of the window. "And none of our methods have been effective?" I asked and turned to see him none, pursing him lips. "None of them, Alpha Jason. This whole issue has tongue-wagging. I believe you've heard about the rumors, not just anyone but even the council members are now murmuring" Silas said and my eyes narrowed. "What are they saying Silas?" I demanded and he bit his lower lips before blurting out the words. "They are saying that you're... Incompetent and not fit to rule. They have been complaining and questioning your leadership and ability to rule the pack since there's been no solution to the issue we have had for weeks, forgive me." Silas said and I slammed my hand on the table angrily. I had heard about this but hearing it from Silas infuriated me even more. How dare those low lives talk about me like they knew anything about leading a pack. "Do you believe it?" I mumbled and he looked taken aback. "Excuse me?" "Do you believe what they say about me Silas!" I lashed out and his eyes widened. He looked away nervously before clearing the throat. "Of.. of course not. I wouldn't dare to have such thoughts about the alpha. But, things were still a little bit under control when Luna Eileen was still present. If she was here, I'm sure it wouldn't have gotten this bad.." he trailed off and I scowled at him. Deep down I knew he was telling the truth, Eileen had managed to always keep things under control and now that she was gone, things were falling apart. "Maybe we shouldn't have let her go" Silas whispered. "Maybe you should have tried harder to stop her from leaving!" I sneered back at him. Yes it was his fault as well, he was the Beta and he couldn't stop Eileen in time. "I think she has returned to her former pack, we can go there and plead to her to return. The Luna is kind, I'm sure she would-" "Plead?" I interrupted him. "Who do you think you're talking to Silas? I am the Alpha of this pack, I do not beg anyone" I glowered and just then the door was pushed open. I was surprised to see my pregnant omega walking in looking upset. "What are you doing here?" I asked annoyed. "I wanted to see you, why have you been avoiding me" She asked looking annoyed aswell. "Go back to your room now, you're heavily pregnant, you shouldn't be walking around carelessly" "No! I'm going nowhere! Why won't you come see me? I'm carrying your child and you've been avoiding me. Have I become unattractive to you Jason!" She screamed at me but I wasn't bothered about her. "Enough, if you hurt our child, I would never forgive you" I snapped at her and turned to her maids who were right behind her. "Take her to her room and make sure she rests" I said and they bowed and started to approach us. "No! Leave me! I won't - arghhh" she suddenly let out an earth piercing scream that shook me and I turned to her with my eyes wide. "Ugh!! It hurts! It hurts so much!!" She screamed while her maids held her. "My lady!" "Oh no, she's going into labour" one announced and I froze. I took a deep breath, my heir was finally here. He was arriving now. "It's a premature birth, it must have been because of the stress she's gone through" The other maid said and I turned to them with a cold expression. "Get her to the room now, get the doctor and the midwives and make sure my baby is delivered safely, no matter what!" I ordered and they nodded and carried her out while she screamed and cried. Feeling restless, I went to get a change of clothes and went down to the room prepared for the delivery of my heir. After a few hours of continuous screaming, there was suddenly silence, and then someone else screamed. It was different this time. It was the scream of a baby. My heart skipped a beat, my heir has arrived. I stood outside the door and after a couple more minutes, the door was finally opened. A nurse wearing a facemask bowed and smiled. "Alpha, the lady has delivered your baby. It's a boy" She announced and I smiled for the first time in a while. Yes! A boy! Finally, what I needed was finally here. "I want to see him" I demanded and she nodded and made way for me. Entering the room, I saw that they had cleaned her up and she was breathing tiredly, paying no attention to her, I turned to the nurse impatiently. "Where is my son" I demanded, eager to see him already. The nurse signaled for another nurse to bring the child. As the nurse approached me, my smile gradually faded as I stared at the baby in front of me. "My Alpha" the nurse bowed me with a smile on her face but I frowned, ignoring her. The baby, this baby was not mine! His skin was a much darker shade, his hair was stark black unlike I and the omega blonde hair. And when he opened his eyes to reveal their green colors, I immediately knew that I had made a mistake. "I need a DNA test now!" I announced and the nurses gasped in shock. "B.. but Alpha-" she tried to speak but I interrupted her. "Take a sample from me and that child and run a test now, I will be in my office, waiting for the results" I growled and turned to leave but paused when I heard my name. "Jason.." she called out weakly, I turned to her to see that she was sobbing in the bed. I gave her a disgusted look and walked away. I stayed in my office, unable to remain calm, I tried to distract myself but I couldn't get the image of the child off my head. After a while, I heard a knock on the door. "Enter" I ordered and it was slowly pushed open. It was the doctor and he was holding an envelope, I knew in there was the result of the DNA test. "Alpha Jason" he bowed but I snatched out the envelope from his hand. My hands shaking a little as I unfolded the letter The baby was... Not mine! I squeezed the paper and hit the desk angrily. "That b***h! She lied to me" I let out a growl and the doctor bowed. "I'm sorry, Alpha Jason." "I will have her imprisoned!" I gritted my teeth. "Alpha - she's escaped!" Silas notified me through the mindlink. This beguiling Omega was actually a witch, and the witch coven had been waiting a decade for the revival of their master - the Dark Lord. Why would they come to me? The wolf doctor produced another report, his face turning deathly pale. I demanded furiously, "On the authority of the Alpha of Stone Heart, do not attempt to deceive me. What have you discovered?" "I've discovered Luna...Luna Elleen's medical examination report. She is a strong, healthy female wolf," the wolf doctor trembled as he spoke. I didn't understand his fear - Elleen had excellent alpha bloodlines. Her only blemish was birthing a disabled pup and being barren - my eyes widened. "She is not barren!" I gripped the wolf doctor's throat, fury burning my rationality. The traitorous witches, the falsified barren report - it all forced me to reject my loving mate. The betrayal cut deep, but it also reignited something deep within me. Then I realized only one person could truly satisfy me, make me feel whole again - Elleen. "f**k!" Only Eileen could give me what I needed. Only she could make me whole again! The door was suddenly pushed open and I could hear cries and screams. Silas walked in looking worried. He rushed towards me and held my shoulders. "Alpha Jason, what's wrong with you?" He aimed his gun at me as I desperately threw the test results at him. "I've lost my mate and the heir I longed for," I muttered in anguish, pushing Silas away so he wouldn't see me crying. "I'm sorry to say this, I know it's not a good time too but I think this is a sign that we clearly need Eileen back. At least you have a child with her, you can have more, we need our Luna back" Silas said and I bit my lower lip. He was right, we needed Eileen back, she had left a huge hole in the pack that couldn't be easily filled. The alliance would only agree to fend off the rogue wolf if Eileen was involved. I curled my palm into a fist and made up my mind there and then. "You're right" I was going to get Eileen back, no matter what it takes.
