“Hello?" Sam's deep baritone rang out from the other end of the phone.
“Sam, it's me, Declan Pierce."
There was a long pause. “What do you want? Calling to gloat? Tell me you told me so?"
I cleared my throat to clear away the lump there, but it didn't do any good. From the tone of his voice, Sam loved her, too. “No, nothing like that." “Isabel committed suicide tonight." I let out a deep breath, tears filling my eyes.
