When I finished eating, I went back upstairs and took a shower. I peeked in on Henley, and she was still sleeping. Then I took my time in the shower, enjoying having some time off from work. I hadn't taken this much time off at all. Not that I could remember, anyway. I was nearly finished when I heard a blood-curdling scream come from downstairs. As quickly as possible, I grabbed a towel off the rack, wrapped it around my waist, and bolted out the door and down the stairs, my heart pounding in my ribcage.
