Chapter 19: When We Got Distracted
(Flashback - two days after Jared's outburst, after Jade and Jared said goodbye)
"This is making my head hurt." Nate said as he pulled his hair out, looking miserable. Megan, Nate and Jade were sitting in the library, working on a paper Professor Rutherford had assigned. It was due in a day and they had just started writing it. "I have never read so many books in my entire life," Nate said with a frown as he rubbed his eyes.
"I have." Jade said. She had read a lot of books in her life, after her parents' death, after everything in her life had shifted, books had been the only constant and so she had read whenever and wherever.
