ASHLYNN POV Sleep refused to come. I lay staring at the ceiling of my room, listening to the distant sounds of the school settling for the night. Doors closing. Quiet footsteps in the hallways and the occasional howl from a wolf standing watch beyond the walls where Hunter and Cole was also patrolling the night. Tomorrow. The thought sat heavily in my chest. Tomorrow Vex could attack. Tomorrow I could find my son. Or lose him forever. I rolled onto my side with a frustrated groan. The room suddenly felt too small. Too quiet. Too empty. Giving up on sleep entirely, I threw back the blankets and slipped out of bed.
