CATHERYN POV The room reeked of smoke, mold and sweat. Shadows from the torches licked the damp stone walls as Vex’s voice thundered through the hall. The room was crammed with wolves, magicals and other creatures… many who were suppose to be loyal to me, now stood hanging onto every word he fed them, their eyes gleaming with bloodlust. I stood apart from them, arms folded, leaning against the cold wall. His words rolled over me like a storm I’d heard too many times before. Full of promises of domination, of vengeance, of blood… and I found myself not feeling as excited as I should be. “…we will attack soon… Let them stew in nervous anticipation.” Vex said and chuckled and the others did too.
