After being accepted in the Blackwood pack, we were all shown our rooms. Tessa's parents had one room; Tessa and Nicki shared another; while I got a whole room to myself. I didn't know what to do with myself. I had eight siblings and was the second youngest so I had never had a whole room to myself before. We weren't poor, but we certainly weren't rich enough to be able to afford a house that would have allowed us to have our own rooms. It was part of why I worked so hard to become the head warrior. They got paid a hefty salary, or at least a hefty salary for an eighteen year old who had no other bills.
