Terra's Other Life

They went inside and sat in the kitchen at the table. Brion sipped the delicious jasmine tea as the people in front of him monitored him carefully. Sitting the cup down, Brion began the troubling truth about another hidden life of Terra.  "Terra Markov is her full name. She is the crowned princess of Markov, but what our people do not know is that she's been a runaway of the crown for some time. They think she's in finishing school, getting ready to be launched into society to be wed." Beast sat back shocked as jaws dropped, "Whoa." Brion nodded, and Robin hummed as he sat down his cup, "Well then what happened? What made her run away?"  Brion stood and sighed heavily as he faced out the window, the darkening sky matching his somber mood, as it began a dark and gloomy ran over Japan he began. "When she was fifteen, I eighteen, we were given to H.I.V.E."  Robin stiffened and Brion nodded seeing his understanding, "They experimented on us, made us into metahumans with the ability to control earth. They had done it to other kingdoms, and my father wanted us to have an advantage such as them. To protect our name, our home."  Brion faced the five strangers he was baring his sold to, "But Terra hated it. The rules, the restrictions, she couldn't go to the bathroom without someone tailing her. It was the experiment, the power, that made her run from us. She couldn't control it, I was trying to help her, but she was timid, and when I was tough, she was scared and going too far. She wouldn't listen, she was too busy trying to hide and curse it to have control of it. So, of course, she did the best thing she believed for her and everyone around her, and ran."  Raven sighed before dryly snipping, "Sounds familiar." Brion faced Raven with a measured look, "You don't sound fond of my sister." Raven sighed, "If you know Gar, then you know we took her in once and in the end she betrayed us." Brion nodded raw pain in his eyes, "I know, I'm sorry. But you do understand yes?" Sitting back down, Brion's intense blue eyes seemed to burn into Raven's violet ones. "Our PARENTS made her that way. They were controlling, domineering, and yes it came from a place of love but it was too much for a young girl like her. She's strong-willed and thick-headed. When she thinks she's right, even wrong she's going to be right, she's stubborn and sometimes a lot to handle but...she was my best friend."  Brion bowed his head in shame, "I should have protected her, I didn't. I...I went into the program because as Heir to the thrown, I had no choice. So I went in, and I lost the ability to help her when they dragged her in against her will. My greatest shame."  Looking into their eyes Brion huffed, "The procedure they did on her wasn't for the weak, she could have died had she been weak. And the pain was excruciating, the medicine they give you to make you...not human tearing apart your cells before molding them back how it needs to be."  Shaking his head Brion admitted, "This man, Slade I hear coerced her...he helped finish twisting her up. Someone working for me told me he had been looking into her when she blew into a town over from where you all resided. He saw her use her powers to stop a robber, but a building clasped. It was a ruin, but it still pushed her to run to yours."  Brion confidently announced, "He got into her head, took a scared little girl and made her into a weapon for him to hurt you all." Looking into Beast's green eyes, he asked, "Can you really keep holding her one f****d-up moment against her? You were her friend from what I was told." Beast nodded in agreement, "I was. But being friends with Terra was hard, she was first my friend, and then gone. Then she came back again as my friend, but then she betrayed us with one of our worse enemies and tried to kill us. No gun to her head, she wasn't a five year old, she knew what she was doing. She just didn't know how far you had to lose yourself to be like someone like Slade."   Beast sighed in pain, "And in the end she did the right thing, and in a way I forgave her. But when she turned into stone...I was sure she'd stay that way." Brion nodded, "Clearly," When he met Raven's eyes, she could see a little accusation in them and her eyes flashed red, "Watch it rock boy."  Brion jerked back making her roll her eyes and look away, Beast chuckled a little before saying, "Don't piss off the lady of the house  if you think traveling around the world is tiring try another dimension." Brion swallowed as Beast stood and went to the window, "Look when Terra came back she didn't remember me. She had integrated into a life I think we both knew she always wanted. A simple life, with simple life mistakes, and simple life love. Nothing wrong with it, but you and I wouldn't have been welcomed or have a place in it. I let her go, and I think you did too."  When Brion refused to meet his eyes, Beast knew he was right, "Until you heard she got her memory's back and her power. Probably from whatever spy you have watching her. Who probably told you she was here." Brion nodded and stood thinking this conversation was coming to a close, "But she is no longer...?" Beast sighed, "We had a falling out. She left, don't know where. But thanks for telling me more stuff this girl who I swear begs me to trust her every time, never feels it would be smart to tell me."Brion almost said something but nodded and headed to the door.  When Robin almost closed the door he remembered something, "Say, Brion?" Turning Brion hummed, "Yes?" Robin shrugged, "What happens if you find her? You're gonna make her come home?" Brion shook his head, "I don't think she'll forgive me or understand it if I did. But I will beg, plead, and try and see if she needs anything from me I can help her. I won't fail this time, in all honesty, she needs to be home with her family." Robin nodded, "Good luck." Brion sighed before curiously asking, "Did he love her?" Robin stiffened uncomfortably, "It's more complicated than that." Brion shook his head, "I got the big brother urge to kick his ass, I'm positive, he broke her heart." Robin shook his head, "You know like I do somethings can be forgiven but they aren't forgotten, and nothings the same after." Brion left on the note wondering if that statement would hold firm.
