The moment Caleb shut the door and left the conference room, the silence erupted like a shaken soda can. Chairs scraped the floor as everyone turned to face each other, the tension finally snapping like a stretched wire.
Matt stood, pacing slowly. "Alright, thoughts. What do we think Caleb is really up to?"
Ryan leaned back in his seat, arms crossed. "He's trying too hard to make Veronica look like the villain. I mean, sure, she probably is involved, but the way he kept pushing it? It was almost rehearsed."
Aiden nodded. "Yeah, that part stuck with me too. He was laying it on thick. And the way he played dumb about Mason's family being here? Total act."
