I walked back into the village just at dusk, to find Gage sitting there on his little porch waiting for me. I live in the small house next door to him so I always run into him when I get home or when I leave. I think him living that close keeps me under his thumb more. It’s suffocating.
I shift and pull on my shorts. Gage watches me closely and it makes me uneasy. What was he going to do to me for showing up without Zoe?
