I didn’t realize I’d fallen asleep until the soft rhythm of breathing beside me reminded me I wasn’t alone.
My eyes opened slowly, adjusting to the morning light streaming through the curtains. Ava was curled against my chest, her cheek pressed against my bare skin, her hair tangled and wild from the night we shared. Her arm was draped over my stomach, her leg slung across mine like it was the most natural thing in the world.
