Mel did have the same thoughts initially, so she could understand the old man’s reaction. Who knows if he’d change his mind, though? She felt a little awkward about it. ‘Lover, huh?’ Well, yes. That’s what she currently is to Klyde. Bed partner was the term he used, but it’s practically the same.
That night, she didn’t feel like doing anything with him. She didn’t go to his room and simply lay on her own bed. She couldn’t sleep, though. Mel wasn’t exactly bothered, but for some reason, sleep eluded her.
When Klyde didn’t see her in his room, he let it go. He’s tired, too. He worked during the remainder of his day and finished most of his backlog. There’s still tomorrow.
