What Mel expected to happen didn’t happen, and she became surer of her feelings. And maybe his, too. She expected him to become distant after she gave birth, but he hadn’t. She expected him to focus more on their child, but he still spent more time with her. He would normally see Klay when she’s in the nursery. She’s beginning to doubt if he went there on his own.
Pops visited often in the first few weeks. He would just sit there in the nursery watching the little boy when he’s asleep. When the baby’s awake, the old man would babble at him even though the baby didn’t know how to do that yet. But Klay rarely cried in his presence. He would chuckle a lot and wiggle his arms and legs. It’s heartwarming to see.
As for Lily, she visited on the baby’s first weekend at home. She brought some
