ABIGAIL
It turns out that silently sneaking out of your house to go out for a couple of hours isn't that easy when you have a mother like mine, as not only did she mobilize all the Arlington manor’s security members, but she also called the police after she entered my room and found it empty, so she did not believe that I would have run away, as any normal father would have done, but that someone had kidnapped me.
I don't think I have ever seen my mother so upset in all my life, even my Uncle Joshua, who usually finds very funny each of her crazy fits, tried to calm her down for several hours, but without success; luckily, I managed to come up with a credible lie that saved Ed from getting involved in this whole mess, and everyone believed the version that only he found out when I called him to ask him to come to pick me up, so I kept my promise not to get him in trouble.
Although I cannot say the same about the security guards, the poor men had to put up with my mother's frenzy and for several days they were inspecting every little corner of the huge property, looking for possible blind spots, because according to my mother, as easy as I found a way to get out, someone could have entered; So not only did I get a huge scolding from my entire family, but now the security guards are watching me as if I were the enemy: with caution and annoyance.
Things weren't any better in college, apparently, my little stupid moment didn't go as unnoticed as I had thought, and the distorted and rather exaggerated account of what happened on the terrace with Ezra quickly spread across campus, for not only were people surprised that "the little princess" had gone to a frat party, but the fact that I had been involved, even for a few minutes, with a guy with the reputation that Ezra has been gathering in the last semester, It seems to have been the best news that many have heard in years.
Not to mention the fact that now I must go everywhere not with one bodyguard, but with two, thanks to the delusions of my mother who thinks that now I am a rebel who will seek to escape at any opportunity that may arise, and therefore, one bodyguard alone won't be enough to hold me back if I ever tried.
Although, the only positive outcome about it, is that having two bodyguards at all times, makes it much more difficult for those idiots who think they are very funny to approach me and tell me stupid jokes, but that does not stop them from yelling them at times when I come close, so I have chosen not to go anywhere where there is a lot of people, and have limited myself to attending my classes, board meetings and working out a couple of times a week on the running track.
And that's where Ezra first tried to approach me, two weeks after the frat party, yet he was almost immediately intercepted by Al and Charlie, my bodyguards, so despite his insults and attempts of going around them, he couldn't get close enough to me, and I instead completely ignored him and continued on my way down the running track.
That same night I received the first text that Ezra has sent me since our first exchange a little over a month ago, in which he asked me if we could talk at some point, but I decided to leave it on read; So the next day he sent me another message, wondering why I wasn't replying to his messages, and again I ignored him, because I still can't forgive him for the fact that he wanted me to continue whatever it was that he had started with another girl before, like if I were the easiest option to satisfy his urgencies, but above all, because just thinking about him reminds me of my own stupidity for having agreed to go with him so abruptly and without thinking about what that might mean later.
After the fifth ignored message, I thought that he had finally given up, as I did not receive any more messages for a couple of days, so I went back to my tedious routine where I only went to my classes and then home, until one Tuesday in the middle of March when I left class for a moment to go to the bathroom, leaving Al and Charlie outside, since it was the ladies room, and after I had left the cubicle, while I was washing my hands, the door of the first cubicle opened slowly and I heard someone call me, so I immediately panicked and tried to rush out of the bathroom.
However, when I was almost running towards the door, an arm that came out of that cubicle grabbed me by my waist tightly and I immediately felt that they covered my mouth with a huge hand to prevent me from screaming, and I found myself being pushed towards the cubicle, I tried to free myself from the strong grip and began to move my legs in a frantic way until I managed to hit something soft, and I heard a grunt of pain that left me frozen for an instant, because I knew that voice very well.
"Can you stay still? You hit me hard,” Ezra tells me, and I turn my head slowly until I meet his eyes that are watching me with intensity.
"Are you insane? Let me go right now, my guards are out, you are going to get in trouble if they don't see me come out safely in a couple of minutes,” I tell him, but for some reason, I do it in a whisper, and not screaming as they told me to do at home when they were trying to teach me self defense.
"I just want us to talk for a couple of minutes without the interference of your trained monkeys," he replies while rolling his eyes.
And when I try to get out of his grip again, he puts his hands on either side of my face and joins his lips to mine causing me to stop trashing immediately.
