I refrained from eating anything throughout the entire journey to the city. Despite Ezra and Caleb's persistent offers, my appetite seemed to dwindle the closer we approached our destination. A strange unease settled in my stomach, gradually replacing hunger with waves of nausea. It was a puzzling sensation—I had never been prone to travel sickness before, but the nervous anticipation seemed to be taking its toll on me. As we finally arrived in the city after hours of nonstop driving, Ezra and Caleb appeared far from fatigued. On the contrary, their energy seemed boundless. Meanwhile, a weariness had settled into my bones, a consequence of the exhausting journey. Most of the time, I oscillated between fitful naps and bouts of nausea, unsure why these sudden physical reactions had manifest
