I knew the guys didn’t really understand what I was trying to say. But the truth was, I had never had a birthday cake before. I’d never had balloons, I’d never had presents. No one ever celebrated my birthday.
Evelyn never gave a s**t and Wesley was never there. He didn’t even call me or send me a card on my birthday. It was just the same old monthly check that I got. It was nothing special. And I wasn’t even getting that until I turned 13.
“You mean, you’ve never had anything as special as this?” Koda asked.
“No. I mean, a cake, and presents and balloons.” I said.
They all looked at each other with a bit of shock on their faces and then it changed to a little bit of anger.
“Well, that’s never going to happen again. Not while you’re with us.” Dean said.
