Veronica opened her eyes into the familiar bedroom. She felt the soft mattress with her palms and slowly sat up. The door creaked opened and Jarvis went inside with a tray in his hands.
"Hey, you're awake now," he said and put the tray down. Veronica smiled and glanced outside as the dusk is nearing.
"What happened?" Veronica asked.
"You fainted due to exhaustion," Jarvis replied and sat on the edge of the bed. The memories from earlier conversations came rushing into her mind. She finally remembered. Blake didn't accept her sorry. Veronica suddenly felt dejected.
"You did all you can, V," Jarvis stated sensing the sadness in her. He took her hand and gave her a reassuring smile.
