The Secretive Luna

Chapter 2

True to Emily's and Amelia's words, he's an Alpha and he's damn hot, but that still doesn't convince Sherry.

“Why did you run away?” he asks, his gaze fixed on hers. His voice is deep, but melodic such that has Sherry on edges.

She's still like a fish out of water at the encounter of him and she has to shake herself back to her senses.

“You're Zack Daniels and that's enough reason to run away.” she says as an excuse. Zack thinks for a while as if what Sherry has just said makes sense, which probably does to other werewolves, but he doesn't scare Sherry at all.

“I see...Perhaps, are you afraid of me?” he asks and Sherry is quite baffled at his question such that she can't suppress her chuckle.

“I-I'm sorry Alpha, I didn't mean to laugh, but to answer you, I am not afraid you at all!” she says, calming herself down from another threatening fit of laughter.

“Then what was it that made you run away from me instead of coming to me?” he asks in confusion.

Sherry thinks for a while, thinking if she should answer him or not and ultimately decides to give him a hint. “Charlotte Oliver. You should go back Alpha, your companion may be waiting for you.”

Zack looks surprised at the mention of the name and he immediately frowns.

“You don't have to worry about her, she's not my mate.”

The whole werewolf community knows about the two of them and he's confidently telling Sherry not to worry? He must be a joker! Those two have been together since childhood!

Sherry's head already hurts from all of these happenings and she desperately wants to be away from him, though her every fibre and instinct wants to draw closer to him.

“How about we make a deal, Alpha?” she says as she stands up from her hiding place.

As if all these has been planned, the moonlight shines through the leaves leaving enough light for them to see each other's faces clearly. They're both silent for a little while as they stare at each other.

“To be honest, I think there has been a mistake. I think there has been a drug mixed with my drink or food which has started all of this. How about we wait for like an hour and try to see if this pull is real?” Sherry suggests. It's evident that she doesn't want to be mated to Zack at all costs!

Zack huffs some haughty air, mocking her words, something which is understandable. She has just spit nonsense but it still makes sense!

“That's ridiculous, no drugs can--”

“And that's why I'm proposing 30 minutes...” she cuts him short and when he doesn't respond, she does something else for him to be convinced. “Please, wait about one hour!” has she just used her command tone on him? Wow!

His eyes widen, evidently shocked and confused because of what Sherry has just said.

“Wh-what was that?” he asks and it's now her turn to be shocked.

Her command tone hasn't worked on him? There no way that her command tone hasn't worked. He's surely an Alpha but Sherry's command tone still works on Alphas!

She sighs in relief when she hears him sigh and he scratches the back of his head. “Fine, I'll give you one hour although I'm not sure why you're doing this. This is far from the normal meeting-your-mate-scenario.” he says as if he's being generous and Sherry almost rolls her eyes at him.

“Alright, thank you. Please leave for now, I want to be alone.”

Zack looks at her and wonders if she's in her right mind. She wants to be left all alone in this dark forest? She must be so brave!

“It's dangerous.” he says to her.

“I'm dangerous.” she whispers under her breath. She's surely a hard nut to crack!

“Excuse me?”

“I meant don't worry about me and leave me to collect my thoughts. I will come back to the party in later and I'll look for you.” she says and acts as if she's getting emotional. No one can turn down the request of an emotional woman in verge of tears so he will definitely leave.

“Fine, but before I leave... I didn't get your name.” he says, surprising her.

She doesn't want him to know her!

She hesitates but then, she realises something and she starts to feel kind of upset.

See, this is not their first meeting. They've probably met at least twice when they were younger. After all, they're both Alpha's children.

“How cruel, I remember you yet you don't remember me?” she says bitterly, a huge lump blocking her throat and she's surprised that the emotions are real.

Isn't she beautiful enough such that she's easily forgotten?

“We've met before?” Zack asks, rubbing salt at the wound, making her to roll her eyes.

“It doesn't matter, we have plenty of time to get to know each other if we really are mates. Now, off you go, dear Alpha.” Sherry says the title almost mockingly, hoping he doesn't mind.

To her surprise, he turns around and starts walking away.

Even as he disappears into the darkness, Zack is in deep thoughts, almost crossing his fingers. I can't bear to be rejected! He only prays that the beautiful damsel doesn't end up rejecting him.

Sherry waits for some few minutes before getting out of her hiding place and she decides to run away. She can't believe that her mat is Zack Daniels of all people! She thinks she's dreaming!

Instinctively, she runs back towards the way of the Pack house where the ballroom is, but she doesn't go inside. She has already mind linked both Emily and Amelia informing them that she's going to head back first without them.

Her very first priority is getting the hell out of there without getting caught by that Alpha.

As she gets near the car park, she can sense that Zack is just inside the Pack House, but she fights all natural urges and instincts.

She's only twenty years old and she wonders why she has to get caught up in this sort of mess! According to her, Zack isn't her perfect mate and all she knows is that he belongs to the Charlotte girl he has been parading all over even during the Alpha's meetings and parties!

Sherry finds the car that she drove coming here. She removes her car key from her purse and gets into the car.

She thinks she should really stop doing this, but also convinces herself that it's so convenient.

After entering the car, she doesn't even bother to putting her seatbelt on and she ignites it, speeding off at a supersonic speed.

It's only once she exits the Pack gates that she realises that her heart is a hammering mess and she's practically trembling.

She forces herself to keep driving, to keep going to a place as far away as possible.

And that is how Sherry successfully makes her spontaneous escape from her mate because she knows for a fact, according to her, Zack Daniels is trouble and she doesn't want to be associated with him at all!

Meanwhile back at the Pack House, Zack is busy looking for Sherry. One hour has passed and he excuses himself from his Beta who's busy giving him a plan on which Pack they're going to visit next so as to have a talk about the rogue wolves.

Upon stepping out, her scent is strongly all over and that alone sends him to the parking lot where his instincts tell him she is.

He looks around but he doesn't seem to get a whiff of her. The scent diminishes and within no time, he can't smell her at all. She's gone! She has definitely left!

Dejectedly, he mind-links the border guards to do a thorough check to whoever is stepping out and hold the girl he has just described to them if they happen to see her, until he gets there.

He then heads there quickly, hoping to catch her and bring her back. She's his mate and it's quite sad that he doesn't even know her name or which Pack she's from!
