Essence was sitting in the living room bored out of her skull when Tasia entered the space with a smile.
“Essie, Aisha and Chiti are here to see you. Security is bringing them up from the gate. Mr. Tudor is in his office. Do you want me to have him come greet your guests with you?”
“No. Leave him be. He’s dealing with some urgent matters with his company.”
“Shall I bring in tea?”
“That would be great, thanks Tasia and if Zlata has any more of the biscuits, she made earlier in the week it would be lovely.” She tried to smile but the pull on her face hurt, and she self-consciously touched her swollen eye and cheek. “How bad does it look? They’re going to freak out, aren’t they?”
“It looks awful, Essie and I think we’re all a little freaked out, to be fair. We were all quite frightened.”
