The ray of sunlight peeking from behind the curtains was what roused me from sleep. I blinked rapidly, shading my eyes with my hands as I turned over on the bed, willing my body to awaken for the day. That motion was a mistake because I instantly felt electrifying pain shooting through me. I felt achy from head to toe, and I needed a few moments to recover.
