CHAPTER 27: SOMETHING GOOD FOR ONCE
The next morning I felt awkward as I approached my first period class. Joyce and I sat together I couldn’t exactly avoid her like I had been doing since yesterday. Sitting next to her would be tense and uncomfortable.
We had a test tomorrow in math so our teacher was giving us today’s class time to study for it. Joyce hadn’t arrived by the time class began and I (guiltily) hoped that that meant she wasn’t coming. However, just as everyone started to do their own work she came in, apologizing to our teacher for being late. When she sat down it was as I expected, tense and uncomfortable, but other than that things didn’t go as I expected.
“Why didn’t you show up at the café yesterday?” She questioned almost acting normal with the exception of sounding
