Alpha Beast in the Flesh.

1056 Words
"This is uncomfortable" Alpha Jordan hissed as Christopher rolled his eyes at him.  "Shush they'll hear you" he hissed "you can't turn up to a dinner party wearing jeans and a tank top. It's rude" Jordan raised an eyebrow and glared at his Beta "say's who" he snapped, tugging on the tie around his neck and snapping it, throwing it to the ground in ecstasy as Christopher groaned.  "Really" he said and Jordan just shrugged, a lot more comfortable in the white shirt and black slacks he wore.  "Press the damn doorbell already and let's get this frigging thing over with" Jordan grumbled "I already hate this pack and I haven't even gone inside yet." He was extremely annoyed with the lack of security shown by this abysmal pack. He and Christopher had almost made it halfway to the pack house before anyone even noticed their presence. Then they simply waved them on and left Christopher and himself shooting glances at each other in complete stupefaction. It was laughable and concerning thought Jordan grimly. How any pack could be this lax about its security was beyond his comprehension. Riley heard the doorbell and felt sick, even as Luna Renae came dashing out, smoothing her dress down excitedly and her husband putting his arm through hers ready to escort her to the door. "Stay there" Luna Renae hissed "I want you to come to the formal dining room in ten minutes with the first course is that clear." "Yes Luna Renae" Riley whispered and watched both of them leave, her heart thudding loudly in her chest as she gripped the kitchen bench and waited, eyes miserably watching the clock as she waited the ten minutes as instructed. "Alpha Jordan" Riley heard Luna Renae exclaim in a sickening sweet voice "it's an honour to have you visiting our humble pack. Please do come in the both of you and sit in our dining room. Dinner has been prepared by our cook and the 'light entertainment' you requested has also been taken care of.  Alpha Jordan grunted, footsteps sounding down the hallway as Riley closed her eyes, the ticking of the clock driving her mad as she forced herself to move, to put the first course on the dinner trolley along with anything else she needed such as a corkscrew for the wine and the ice cold water in its pitcher, adding ice blocks to it.  Jordan was staring at the table as he sat down, Christopher hurriedly plonking himself next to him. As he'd suspected it was a fancy dinner party, elegant china on the table, place settings set out precisely, decorations adorning the table as he fought the urge to gag. He hated pretentious dinner parties, would rather sit out back with a fire pit and some beers with decent normal conversation or be left alone, the latter his ultimate preference. He'd disliked the Alpha and Luna on sight, something about them both grated on his nerves. Her laugh was so irritating, her voice so damn shrill it hurt his ears to listen even as he forced a small smile on his face and pretended to listed to whatever they hell they were saying, his eyes already glancing at the doorway and he hadn't even been here for ten minutes.  Christopher could see the annoyance on Jordan's face and to be honest he didn't blame him. Not just because of the dinner party but because he was disliking these two hosts as well, his hands gripping the table underneath as he fought not to wince at the woman's voice or the loud booming laughter of the Alpha. He frowned. Christopher could clearly remember advising them to ensure there was light entertainment such as music to help keep the mood more casual. But they'd clearly ignored it, no sounds of music coming in anywhere. Christopher was willing to bet it wouldn't be too soon before Jordan got up and left, his eye already starting to tic from his anger.  The clock showed her ten minutes of lingering and avoiding the inevitable was up. Riley had no choice now but to slowly make her way to the dining room, prolonging every second she could, taking tiny steps in her stilettos as they made a loud clunking sound on the wooden floors. She saw the door up ahead and swallowed, her hand shaking as she timidly knocked on the door, quiet at first then slightly louder as she awaited permission to enter.  The knock thankfully stopped Luna Renae's annoying conversation, Jordan's stomach growling loudly as he hoped that it was food coming from the other side of the door. Luna Renae made a point of looking at her watch.  "Perfect timing" she exclaimed loudly as Alpha Gordon grunted apparently not caring one way or the other. "Have we got a treat for you both" she added as she went over to the door "I think this will cheer both of you up and that you enjoy dinner" she said with a glint in her eyes. Jordan and Christopher looked at each other. Jordan mind-linked his Beta. I swear to god that better be the best tasting food in the world or I'm leaving. No damn way will I sign a treaty with this stupid, weak and pathetic pack. They have nothing to offer in return. Nothing. Christopher exhaled, privately agreeing with his Alpha as they eyed the door in anticipation, the Luna opening it with a dramatic flourish. Nothing happened. They frowned as she poked her head out of the door, whispering furiously to someone who stood just outside the door. Whoever it was, they were being given a mouthful and Jordan's annoyance grew with every vile word that came out of the woman's mouth. Finally she stepped back and sat back down as though nothing had happened. "I apologise" Luna Renae said smoothly, a displeased look on her face "my servant needed to grab something from the kitchen." A blatant lie, Jordan and Christopher nodding in an effort to look interested. Then a trolley came wheeling in, a woman hunched over it. For some reason Jordan could feel his wolf reacting, growling loudly with a hint of possessiveness.  Then the woman looked up and Jordan sucked in a breath, mesmerised and completely entranced by the beauty standing before him.
