I carefully brought Arliah’s hair near my nose. I shut my eyes tight as I inhaled a deep breath to let her scent linger in my system. And just like a calming substance, my nerves and the pace of my heartbeat calmed down.
I was used of staying up all night due to our kind being nocturnal. I find those nights normal and ordinary. Yet… I did not know that a time will come that I would finally appreciate staying up all night.
And it’s all thanks to this woman… asleep on my very own bed.
When I was satisfied, I opened my eyes and looked at Arliah’s face once again. Seeing her peacefully sleeping beside me is a bit… heartwarming. I played the strands of her hair with so much carefulness. I don’t want her waking up and finding me in this disposition.
