I'm in the room assigned to me at Annie's parents' house. I watch as my phone screen lights up. I don't want to know who's calling, though I have an idea.
I pick it up and sigh when I see the name.
"Hello? Mom?" My mother has been messaging me more frequently. She found out I left the brigade and now insists I return to Canada. But that's not an option. I won't leave until I've made Annie fall in love with me.
