Mae paced the length of the cave. She shivered as the cold seeped into her bones. She should change into her wolf, she thought, as she came to a stop in front of the stairs. Her mind made, she reached for her wolf, but the door slid open. She ran up the stairs but stopped when she came to the top, when she saw Maximus walking down the stairs with Celeste.
“Where you going somewhere?” Celeste asked her with a smile as she came to stand in front of her. She lifted her right arm, and clothes dangled from her hand. “Larson told me what happened,” she said, looking at her naked body. Mae looked from her to Maximus. He was focused on her too. Mae didn’t sense this the first time she met him, but there was something evil about him that he had managed to hide before.
“Where is Vicker?” she ask
