Thirty-five The island of Serenity wasn’t even an island. It was a tiny stretch of land not far from Coleum. On it, the Bastard King had built a summer palace for his bride. It was a place for the Queens and Princesses to have solitude. It was also golden. Pure gold and glittered when the light hit it. When Everly let us in, I couldn’t help but stare around in awe. The palace the royal family lived in was more like a museum. Stuffy, and dark, with a lot of objects that shouldn’t have been touched. Somehow, the palace had been kept in pristine condition. There seemed to be an entire staff whose only purpose was to take care of the castle. Even if there was no one there. There was an older butler named Smithers that took care of the entire place. He looked like the crypt keeper.
