"I asked you to order for two, Miss Wilson? Why don't you ever listen to me?" Mr. Atticus asked me with a tired sigh and I smiled, removing my lunch box from the bag before I placed it on his table and his mouth formed an 'O'.
Yeah, exactly why, Mr. Atticus.
"Why spend so much of money on food outside when I can bring my own lunchbox, Mr. Atticus?" I said and he shrugged his shoulders, opening his own food parcel.
Baked vegetables, fruits and porridge. That's what his lunch always looked like. While I had sandwiches in my lunch always with a portion of fruits. Though the filling inside the sandwiches always differed. Tobias always cooked for me. And for him sandwiches seemed an easier option.
"Why this sudden change in my eating schedule though? I mean, I was fine by eating in my cabin also." I said with an awkward smile as I took a bite of my mix vegetable sandwiches. Only him. Tobias had his ways of adding health in every recipe he made.
"I saw how you eat in odd hours, Miss Wilson. And when you eat, I work. And when I work, I need you. But when I eat, I don't need you. So I thought of saving my precious time and money by eating together." He explained and I nodded my head. Oh.
"Very genius, Mr. Atticus."
"I know, Miss Wilson. I am the boss, of course." I snorted at his smug words. Though he wasn't smiling or smirking, I knew he was being smug about it.
"You know, you're such a self obsessed and obnoxious person, Mr. Atticus." I said while rolling my eyes and he rose his brows at me.
"For telling you that I am aware of the fact fhat I am a genius? Yeah, Miss Wilson, very obnoxious then." He said and I chuckled, shaking my head.
"See. Still being self obsessed." I said with a smile. And he smiled slyly at him, making me roll my eyes again.
"Pass me with the bottle of water, Miss Wilson." Mr. Atticus asked me when he was done with his lunch and I nodded my head, wiping my hands with the napkin before I handed him his bottle of water. He is very paranoid with the water also.
"What's the status of the Ball Night's decorations?" He asked when I slipped my empty lunch box inside my bag and he dumped his trash in his dustbin. Gold. Suddenly his saying echoed in my mind and I pressed my lips to keep myself from laughing.
"The event manager yesterday took all the measurements and we finalized the flowers, carpets, lightings and curtains. We have opt for the royal theme considering how how important people would be attending your party. There's a vintage touch to your ball night. Just like how in ancient times ball nights occured. I have printed the designs and have already sent you them for your approval." I said, standing up from the chair.
"I hope you know, Miss Wilson, your vintage royal touch to my Atticus Ball Night would cost me more than your annual salary." He said to me, making me narrow my eyes at him as I grabbed another napkin and started to wipe the table.
"So what did you wanted from the decorators, Mr. Atticus? To paint the walls white and get a heart monitor and IV and organize the ball night in a hospital?" I asked him with sass. His eyes flared dangerously at how open disrespect but his miser actions only presses my buttons.
"Miss Wilson, I swear...."
"No. Come on, Mr. Atticus, you said to me that big politicians, big business tycoons would be attending this party. And that your ball night is one of the most biggest parties and ball arranged in this world. So, I don't think it would a total waste to invest here." I said to him and he let out a sigh.
"This Ball night is just a formality, Miss Wilson. Okay, maybe a way to conquer this world. But I am not willing to spend my money on something as formal as this." He said, finality in his voice and I shrugged my shoulders.
"As you demand, Mr. Atticus. I'll send Beatrice inside your office and you can submit the changes to her and I'll forward it to the event manager." He nodded his head and I mentally rolled my eyes.
"Oh, and Miss Wilson. I hope you do have a good gown with you." He said and I rose my brows at him. Gown?
"Why?"
"For the ball night, of course. Arrange a good ball gown for yourself, Miss Wilson." He said to me, logging in his computer and I shook my head.
"But I'll be there for professional reasons, Mr. Atticus. I need to be in proper code of conduct." He looked up from his desktop, to give me a glare.
"I am ordering you to wear a gown and come in the ball, Miss Wilson. You'll be there for professional reasons but I don't want anyone to know why you are there. You need to blend in the crowd. Keep an eagle eye on them. Something will happen the party. Everytime happens. You need to be very alert. And secretive."
"So, what will I say if anyone asked me why you have invited your personal secretary to this Ball night?" I asked him and he smiled at me.
"You won't be there as a secretary, Miss Wilson. But as a guest. A very close guest. You don't have to reveal who you are. You just need to blend in the rich and collect anything you find worth my ears and knowledge. Am I clear, Miss Wilson?" He asked me and I nodded my head.
"I got it. You really want me to be your James Bond. I will be. But you will have to pay me extra for the hours I will be there in the ball night." I said with a sweet smile and his eyes narrowed in displeasure.
"This is your work if you wish to work under me, Miss Wilson. And I will not pay you even a cent extra for this." He said and I sighed, nodding my head at him. Of course.
"Of course, you won't, Mr. Atticus. I'll send Beatrice inside." And with that I left his cabin.
^^^^
"It's been a while we had eaten outside together." Tobias said as soon as we both reached the diner and I nodded my head. Yeah, it's been a very long time.
"And it's been so long that we have come outside to enjoy our day out together." I added and he chuckled, nodding his head together.
"I know, right?" He said as we both sat down on one of the empty seats. It was my holiday today.
A day I didn't had to follow orders of Mr. Atticus. A day where I am not anyone's employee. A day where I don't have to run to get him files or send him reports. A day I only Bellarosa Wilson and not Miss Wilson.
I took in a breath of happiness and freedom. Tobias ordered us some coffee and something to eat. I was sitting idly, observing people. Enjoying my day without work when Tobias asked something.
"You won't be home tomorrow, right?" He asked me and I nodded my head.
"I have a ball night to attend." I said and his eyes narrowed as a faint smile formed on his face. Almost amused.
"Really? What a coincidence! Even I have a ball night to attend." He said and my eyes widened as a chuckle escaped my mouth. Him and ball? That was something I had never imagined even in my dreams. He hated ball nights or any of those parties.
Weird, I know. Considering the level of contacts he has.
"But, I thought you didn't like balls and parties?" I asked him and the waiter came with out orders. I took a sip of the warm coffee and hummed in delight.
"I don't. But one of my close friends was insisting, so I need to be there. But where are you going?" He asked me curiously and I shrugged my shoulders.
"A business party, T. Really boring. I'm telling you, I don't even want to go but office calls. Can't ignore." I said with a chuckle and his eyes only narrowed further.
"Oh? Is it your boss? I'm telling you, he even sounds like an oppressive leader to me." Tobias said with distaste and I smiled, shaking my head.
"He is. But he's a very busy man. He barely has time to even breathe. So, when are you going to leave for your ball night?" I asked him, taking a bite of my Mac and cheese and he shrugged his shoulders.
"Depends. I'm not bound to a fixed timing. But I'll go only after dropping you to your destination. Where is the ball night?" He asked me and I shook my head.
"You don't have to worry about me, T. And you can't take me on your bike. I need to wear a gown for the ball. I'll book a cab instead. And need not have to wait for me. I'll be in the office the whole day and then I'll be taking a cab from there to boss's farmhouse." I said and he nodded his head, realizing he can't drop me to the ball night.
"That's also okay. Call me if you'll need anything, okay? And once you'll be done with your party, call me? I'll take the cab and pick you up. After all, my party would also end by morning only."
"Yeah, that would be cool. But I need to buy a dress for the ball, first. I only have formal dresses in my wardrobe." I said with a chuckle and he smiled, shaking his head.
"Don't worry, Bells. We'll go for shopping now. Even I need to buy a couple of shirts for myself. My results are going to be declared anytime soon. I need to be prepared beforehand." He said to me, excitedly and I laughed, nodding my head.
"Yeah, yeah. Of course. My doctor brother." I said and before we could've continued, my phone rang and the number of Mr. Atticus' cabin flashed, making me frown. Don't tell me this man is going to call me in office now.
"Hello?" I answered the call and a female voice rang from the other side.
"Hello, Miss Bellarosa Wilson. I am Helen. The manager of account department."
"Hi, Helen. Is everything alright? You're calling me from office landline?"
"Everything's fine. Mr. Atticus is demanding your presence immediately in the office. Some last minute chaos has occured. He has called the entire staff. Please report in thirty minutes." With that the line went dead and I took a deep breath in.
"What happened, Bells?" Tobias asked me, sipping his coffee and I looked at him with my guilt filled eyes.
"I'm really sorry, T. Some last moment emergency has arrived. I need to leave for office. Can you give me a lift to my office?" I asked him and he nodded his head.
"Of course."
