SIANNA’S entire body nearly trembled when she saw what was inside the white envelope.
It was a wedding invitation.
Her name was clearly printed on it—as the Maid of Honor.
The wedding was for none other than Rose and Wil.
“The nerve,” she muttered through clenched teeth, crushing the invitation in her hand.
She was certain Rose had sent it personally.
Wasn’t it enough that Rose had already stolen Wil from her? Did she really have to rub it in her face that she was marrying the very man Sianna was supposed to marry?
The only thing that had changed in the wedding entourage was Sianna’s role. The lineup she and Wil had originally arranged was still intact—except now, she had been reassigned.
As if that weren’t humiliating enough.
Sianna threw the invitation straight into the trash. That was exactly where it belonged.
Did Rose really want to push her until she explode?
Because if that was the plan, she was provoking the wrong person.
Rose truly believed she had struck gold with Wil. Yes, he came from a wealthy family—but was that enough reason to flaunt him like a trophy?
Or was she simply thrilled with her success in stealing him?
“SIR WIL sent this,” Carlos said to Eliezer as he set an invitation card down in front of him.
“He’s getting married, by the way,” he added.
Eliezer picked up the invitation from his office desk. He was in his private office at Falcon Group at the time.
He took the card out of its white envelope to examine it.
“Rose Dela Torre,” he read aloud, saying the name of the woman Wil was going to marry. Eliezer frowned. That wasn’t the name he’d heard before as his nephew’s girlfriend. He glanced at Carlos. “Is Rose Wil’s girlfriend?”
Carlos cleared his throat. “No, sir.”
“No?”
“Your nephew got another woman pregnant, and that’s who he’s marrying.”
“Wait—what?”
He looked confused by what Carlos had just said.
“Your nephew got another woman pregnant, and that’s who he’s marrying and not his girlfriend,” Carlos repeated.
“How come? Doesn’t he already have a fiancée? Did he cheat?”
“It seems that way, sir.”
“Tsk.” Eliezer shook his head at the news. “Like father, like son,” he muttered.
Just like his cousin, Alfonso Falcon, Wil had cheated on the woman he was originally supposed to marry. And the one Alfonso ended up marrying was the woman he got pregnant—Wil’s mother, Lorie.
Back in the day, if you got a woman pregnant, you married her. Apparently, that system was still alive and well.
He couldn’t help wondering what Wil’s former fiancée was feeling now—especially since his “brilliant” nephew was marrying someone else.
“Do you know anything about the woman my brilliant nephew is marrying?” Eliezer asked Carlos again.
“All I heard, sir, is that the woman he’s marrying now is the stepsister of his former fiancée.”
Stepsister?
Weird.
Wil went after sisters? And he even got the stepsister of the woman he was supposed to marry pregnant.
Good thing he didn’t have any siblings. If his married life turned out like that? Someone might actually get hurt.
He was an only child. His parents had already passed away—he was a menopausal baby. It had been nothing short of a miracle when his mother got pregnant with him. His parents had long believed they would never have a child. Then he came into their lives.
He had never experienced hardship growing up.
The only thing was, his parents hadn’t lived long enough to witness the important milestones of his life.
Carlos, his personal assistant, was the son of his father’s former right-hand man. He was ten years older than Eliezer and had grown up around his family, so he knew a lot about him. If there was anyone he trusted, it was Carlos.
Carlos’s father was already old and weak. His whole life had revolved around Eliezer’s family.
And Carlos, even at thirty-five, had had no plans of getting married because he was too busy working for him. Eliezer wasn’t heartless enough to let the man devote his entire life to him, so he practically forced him to get married.
He had told him back then that whoever he liked, he should marry right away. What woman would refuse Carlos, given the generous benefits Eliezer provided him? Besides, he was good-looking.
Carlos wasn’t just an assistant—he was family. Still, he never forgot to respect him as his boss.
“And you, sir? When are you going to start your own family?”
“No woman would put up with someone like me, Carlos.”
He was far too busy with work. Sometimes he stayed abroad for months at a time because of the businesses he managed there.
So he literally had no time to get married. And he couldn’t even picture himself settling down.
Besides, all sorts of women were constantly being linked to his name. Instead of making his future wife happy, he might only give her stress.
He was still young. Thirty-one.
As the elders said, life begins at forty.
Nine more years. Maybe by then he’d consider marriage.
Especially since his parents had left him no small empire to manage.
Carlos tapped on his desk. Was he disagreeing?
“It would be a waste if you didn’t start a family.”
“Because of my businesses?”
Carlos nodded. “What’s my godson Migi doing?” Eliezer asked, referring to Carlos’s eldest son, Miguel—whom he called Migi. “If I don’t have my own family, I’ll leave everything I have to him.”
“Don’t do that, Sir Eliezer. I’m sure many of your relatives would be angry with me.”
“Don’t mind them. They’re all talk anyway.”
Whether he had children or not, he would make sure his godson Migi had a bright future.
“So while Migi is growing up, keep bringing him along to the businesses I handle. Let him see the world he’ll be moving in someday.”
“Have a child of your own, Sir Eliezer. I’d be happier—and I know your parents would be too. Marry the woman who captures your attention.”
Carlos was throwing his own words back at him. “No thanks.”
It would be nice if his married life turned out as successful as Carlos’s.
“Bring Migi here. I’ll take him out tomorrow,” he said instead. He suddenly missed his godson’s mischief.
“He’s in the province, sir.”
Eliezer looked at Carlos carefully. “Are you already trying to keep my godson away from me?”
“Sir—”
“Pick him up from the province,” he ordered, and Carlos immediately nodded. Eliezer even gave him a teasing grin.
Carlos sighed. He knew Eliezer was serious, so he had no choice but to fetch his son.
His wife wouldn’t get angry as long as it was Eliezer who asked for their son.
Eliezer placed Wil’s wedding invitation at the corner of his desk. He was undecided whether to attend the wedding or not.
He was certain that Wil’s father would be reminded of his own past once his son married another woman.
Sometimes he felt it was better to stay single.
No headaches.
