Chapter 11

1885 Words
THE SWEET smile Sianna had prepared completely vanished when she recognized the man sitting in the swivel chair. It was the man she had a one-night stand with! She swallowed discreetly. She suddenly felt like walking out. But she couldn’t do that—especially since she wanted to leave the city as soon as possible. She also didn’t want to still be in Manila when Wil and Rose’s wedding happened. Sianna couldn’t believe that the man she had a one-night stand with owned this massive mansion. And that he was the one planning to buy her condo unit for triple the price. So he was rich? Filthy f*****g rich?! “Why do you look so surprised?” he asked seriously, not a trace of a smile on his handsome face. Sianna, you came here for business. Don’t forget that. You need to close this deal no matter what! her mind reminded her. That was when she finally regained her composure. Once she sold her condo, she would never have to see his face again. Just when she no longer wanted to see him, he kept reappearing in her life. And besides, he had a family. A child. She drilled that into her mind. A cheater! The resentment she felt toward him resurfaced. But she pushed her personal feelings aside for now because she wanted to close the deal immediately. “Y-you’re Mr. Carlos’s boss?” Sianna asked once she found her voice. “Do you doubt it?” He had been driving an expensive car when she first saw him on the street. And from the way he carried himself, it was obvious he wasn’t just some nobody. Now, that fact was even more evident. She almost felt dizzy from the realization. Sianna ignored what he said. “Let’s get down to business,” she said instead, taking the initiative to sit in the chair in front of his desk. “Now you look like you’re in a hurry.” “I’m only here to sign the Deed of Sale,” Sianna said, taking out the original copy of her Condominium Certificate of Title and placing it in front of the man whose name she still didn’t know. “If there’s anything else you need, just tell me.” He barely glanced at the title she handed him. Sianna cleared her throat. “No offense,” she said, unable to stop her curiosity, “but your house is huge—if this is really yours.” “Why do you seem doubtful that I own this house?” “It’s not like that. I just mean, with a house this big, what would you even do with a condo unit that’s probably smaller than your Study Room? And out of all the people who could buy my condo, it had to be you?” “Are you thinking I’ve been stalking you?” Sianna froze at that. But that was impossible. It was probably just a coincidence. And judging from his appearance, he didn’t seem like the type of man who spent all day on social media. “No,” she answered quickly once she recovered. “Are you planning to let one of your women stay in my condo? Is that why you want to buy it? Triple the price, too. Urgently needed?” she fired off one question after another. “You talk too much. Do you want to sell it or not?” “Of course I do,” she replied without hesitation. She needed to get away from the people she wanted to leave behind. “Where’s the Deed of Sale? So I can sign it. Then the title is yours. Is it okay if you handle everything else too? Like transferring the title to your name?” She wouldn’t be able to take care of that once she left Manila. “That’s not a problem,” the man said, retrieving the Deed of Sale from the corner of his desk. It was inside a white folder. “Just sign wherever your name appears. But before that, how do you prefer the payment? Cash, check, or direct to your bank?” “Is bank transfer okay?” “Sure.” He was actually easy to deal with, even if he looked stern because of his serious expression. She immediately took out her passbook and handed it to him so he could see her account number and name directly. “Are you going to pay first?” she asked in surprise when she saw him typing on his phone. It looked like he was about to transfer millions. “Since you seem to have serious doubts,” he said without looking at her. “It’s done.” When her phone vibrated, she checked it right away. Her banking app notified her that forty-five million pesos had been deposited. She almost felt faint because he was truly serious about buying her condo. No nonsense. No unnecessary words. He even paid first just so she wouldn’t doubt his capability. She wanted to sink into the embarrassment she felt. Okay. He was literally rich—and apparently had money to burn. And in an instant, she was literally an instant millionaire. She still couldn’t believe it. She might not even be able to sleep tonight. “You don’t look like someone who hates money,” Sianna said, glancing at the man. “That’s pocket change,” he replied, placing the folder in front of her along with a black-ink pen. “Sign everywhere your name appears. And on the margins.” Once she signed the Deed of Sale, she could leave. Right. So Sianna signed every page where her name was printed without reading the contents. There were several copies of the Deed of Sale. Even if she didn’t keep a copy, it was fine. She had already been paid. But she paused for a moment, wondering why the bank hadn’t called about the large amount deposited into her account. Usually, they called whenever five hundred thousand pesos or more came in. Hopefully, they wouldn’t call. Still, in case they did, she would need a notarized copy of the Deed of Sale. If she needed supporting documents to withdraw a large amount, she had to have something to show the bank. “I need a notarized copy of the Deed of Sale,” she said while continuing to sign. “You’ll get it later.” “Done,” she said, closing the folder and sliding it back to him. He pressed the intercom. Moments later, Carlos entered. “Tell the attorney to have this notarized immediately.” “Yes, sir,” Carlos replied, taking the folder out of the Study Room. Just a little more waiting, Sianna told herself. She almost wanted to drag time forward. She felt like she was floating on clouds. As her eyes wandered around the Study Room, they landed on a box. “Is that my box?” she asked, standing up. The man glanced at it. “Yes,” he answered plainly, not bothering to deny it. “I’ll take that with me when I leave.” “Suit yourself. You were the one who left it in my car.” If she weren’t in the middle of a deal with him today, he would have heard a lot more from her. “Don’t worry,” Sianna said after a moment. “If you urgently need the condo for whoever’s going to use it, it can be moved into as early as tomorrow.” “Looks like you already have somewhere else to go.” For a moment, Sianna couldn’t speak. She just stared into his eyes. Then she shook her head. “Not yet. But it’s easy to find a place. I won’t be taking the furniture from the condo, so that’s included in what you paid for. I took good care of everything there, so nothing looks old. The interior’s nice too. I’m sure whoever stays there will like it. It also overlooks the city, so it’s nice to just sit in the living room and stare at the view at night,” she added. That condo unit was one of her hard-earned investments. She had truly worked for it. The beautiful interior didn’t happen overnight. It took time because she had to save up for it. Honestly, it wasn’t easy to let go of that place. It had witnessed everything she had been through in life. But for the new chapter of her life, she was ready to let it go for good. She just hoped the new owner would take care of it. “How much longer before I get my copy of the Deed of Sale?” “You’re in such a hurry. Carlos said you don’t have anything scheduled this afternoon.” “Mister, I can’t stay long in your house. Your wife might suddenly show up and I might say something unpleasant about you,” she said seriously, pressing her lips together as she remembered his betrayal of his family. He studied her intently. There was still something in his gaze that seemed to seep into her very core. “The child you saw in my car yesterday isn’t my son.” “And I don’t care if you deny it. But I hope you try being loyal to your wife once in a while. Just because your wife isn’t looking, that doesn’t mean you should immediately jump at someone else. Don’t use ‘needs’ as an excuse. Men like that deserve to lose the very thing that makes them happy,” Sianna said sharply, her eyes hard as she glared at the man whose name she still didn’t know. She hadn’t even bothered reading the Deed of Sale earlier. She had simply signed wherever her name appeared. Before he could respond, the Study Room door opened and Carlos entered with the document she needed. “It’s done, Sir Eliezer.” Eliezer? Sianna repeated in her mind at the name Carlos mentioned. Well, his name suited him. She looked at the man again. He took one copy of the Deed of Sale and handed it to her. “Your copy.” “Thank you,” she said, taking it immediately and placing it inside her shoulder bag after rolling it up. She glanced once more at the man now known as Eliezer. “Thank you again for buying my condo. It’s all yours,” Sianna said as she stood and extended her hand toward him. For formality. To end their conversation properly. At the very least, she wanted to be professional—even this one last time. “You’re in too much of a hurry to leave,” Eliezer said, not even acknowledging her outstretched hand. “We haven’t discussed the other document you signed.” Another document? “H-huh? I only signed the Deed of Sale, right?” “There was another one. The last paper you signed.” She lowered her hand and, puzzled, placed her bag on his desk to take out the rolled document she thought was only the Deed of Sale. That was when she saw a separate sheet attached to the back. It was a contract. Her lips parted as she read what it was for.
