SIANNA FELT like her heart was about to leap out of her chest from how violently it was pounding after she got on the horse.
Poncho was too big—too tall. Every small movement made her feel like she might fall at any second.
She squeezed her eyes shut tightly when the horse shifted, especially when she felt Eliezer climb up behind her.
Slowly, she opened her eyes again when she felt him take hold of the reins in front of her, effectively caging her in his arms.
He adjusted slightly, pulling her back so she rested against his chest.
“Relax,” he murmured near her ear. “Don’t stiffen your body. You’ll only make it harder to balance. Just breathe. Loosen up.”
Sianna swallowed hard. “Are you trying to torture me? Why don’t you just let me get down?”
