POV: Eleanor I didn't sleep. Not for a single second. For the entire night, I had stared at the ceiling while my mind ran in circles. Spinning and spinning around one thought. Dusten Carter was alive. ALIVE. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw his face sitting across from me in that restaurant. That smug smile plastered on his annoying yet scary looking face. That irritating confidence emitting from his whole being. The way he looked at me like he knew something. The way he asked about the child. The way he asked about Naomi. I rolled onto my side and stared at the clock sitting on my bedside table. The numbers glowed back at me. It was already morning and I felt like I had aged ten years overnight. A frustrated sigh escaped my lips. It shouldn't have bothered me this much.
