Jeremy We emerged from the basement into the back yard, only to find that the sun was already low in the sky. How many hours had passed while we were in the basement? Eli climbed through the small door with a protective arm around Mayah’s waist, even though he had a pretty serious wound himself. His shirt was soaked with blood from the hole in his shoulder, and the gash in his forehead was kinda scary looking. They both looked weak and shaky.
