LILY When I came back to my senses, I found myself sandwiched between Ev and Connor – the baby in my arms and both of us in Connor’s. Both were fast asleep, despite it being just late afternoon. It had been a long time since I had woken up with someone next to me—an adult, that is: from the first night at home, when I'd kept Ev in bed with me, the little one had shown a clear preference for co-sleeping, so most nights Connor and I kept him with either of us every other night.
