SEVENTEEN
It had been only hours since Kenadi left, nothing was making sense to me anymore, just a few days and she had just changed into someone else. We were currently in our room with Talia, her wound was healing and I was happy for her.
“You know I fail to understand Kenadi” Talia said catching my attention, we had just finished taking our dinner and we were currently in our room just before we could sleep
“That makes the two of us my sister, Kenadi changed so suddenly and I’m just wondering if something triggered her, that not normal of her” I said trying to figure out what could have possibly happened
“You know in as much as I want to think something is wrong with her, I want her to learn from her mistakes, what she did was wrong, maybe being alone will make hr realize what she did was wrong and the decision she made was a rush one” Talia said and I agreed with her
“By the way I was thinking, since dad and moms bodes were burnt beyond recognition, I think we should preserve that urn permanently in a columbarium, or we can keep the urn I display in our house and unfortunately we don’t have one it will help us for their remembrance”
“That sounds like a good idea but I think we should keep it in the columbarium since we have no house to keep it, but we will have to plan a burial, we not going to bury nothing are we?”
“We will plan that later, I will talk Pedro’s mom about it but I think we will have to follow the cremation process, do you know during cremation, coffins are built to be completely destroyed, it takes a lot of heat to cremate the body, so much in fact, that there is little or nothing left of the coffin among the ashes in the end, the ashes themselves are fragments of bones”
“Wow that is knew I didn’t even know, you talk to Pedro’s mom and the we will know what to do, and I have one question for you, are you and Pedro like together? Does his mom know about it and why didn’t you feed me in?” she asked numerous questions at ago that I found myself smiling, here I thought she was a kid but seems like I had a lot to feed her in
“Well seems like I have a lot to tell you, what is the time?”
“Still early, it’s around 9:30PM”
“We have some thirty minutes before our sleeping time, so when Pedro told dad he had a surprise for me, there was nothing or let me just say I had no idea where he was taking me or the kind of surprise he had said he had for me, so he drove me to this place gave me a dress to change into and drove to this cool and beautiful place, he said it was his favorite spot, he asked me to be his girlfriend” Talia cut me midway through the sentence
“Oh my God tell me you said yes!” she said while shrieking and I shushed her
“Easy sis, of course I said yes, what did you expect?” I said while smiling and she slapped me lightly on my back. And that was not the end of it; he gave a beautiful necklace and guess what was awaiting for me?” I asked her while smiling as I remembered about the day and the car Pedro bought for me on my 16th birthday. “And when we came back, there was a beautiful new car parked just outside the house, he said it was mine and he handed me the keys, I was so happy and he asked if we could go out for a drive and since it wasn’t that late I said yes, so we went out on a drive but was the one driving since I have no driving license, but one thing led into another and we were found on the road late at night and the police officer asked us what we were doing on the road that late, but Pedro was kind of rude to him, he asked us to drive to the police station for questioning and Pedro assaulted him, he beat him up ad that how we both ended up in the cell, a lot of things has happened in just a spa of a few days, the next thing I knew, you were shot, mom bailed me out and took me to grandmas place, grandma is shot, the next thing I know is dad and mom burning to ashes, the world is so unfair sometimes, one minute you are happy the next minute you are sad and crying for losing your loved ones” I said sadly and she hugged me
“Like you always tell me, life is like a game, the greatest handicap is fear, once fear takes part in your life you can and will never achieve anything in life, but the hardest thing is to begin, which we have already started, no fear no doubt, we shall conquer and I’m sure we will get to the bottom of this” she said ad I nodded in agreement, she was right and I wasn’t going to rest until I got justice for my parents
That night I slept like a baby, no thoughts no nothing, I had talked to Talia and I felt like my heart was light and at ease
The following morning, I woke up a bit earlier; I wanted to talk Mrs. Montero before she went to work
“Good morning Mrs. Montero?” I asked her as I joined her I the dining, she was taking some green tea, she was already dressed up for work, she was a morning person
“Morning honey you up already?”
“Yes I can see you up already, I wanted to talk to you about something before you go to work “I said as I took a seat across hers, I had started getting used to her and a times I felt so free around her, she was like a mother to me, I missed mom so much”
“Hmm… about what exactly I hope it’s not about your ungrateful cousin” she asked and I found myself chuckling, she was taking the whole situation so lightly and in a much as I hated what Kenadi had done, some part of me was worried about her
“Ha-ha not that it’s about my parents, I know we are not safe and therefore holding a burial will only be exposing us to more danger than we already in”
“Hmm… sounds like an idea, but what are you planning, instead of holding a burial?”She asked and I cleared my throat, I didn’t know if she was going to agree with our idea but I highly hoped she did
“Well we talked about it overnight and we had an agreement, why don’t we just preserve the urn in a columbarium , I don’t think burying will be necessary” I said and crossed my fingers hoping she would agree to it, I just didn’t want more drama and our security wasn’t promised
“Well I think that is a good idea but I still think it should be okay if you gave your parents the last respect they deserve or don’t you think it should be done that way?”
“Yeah but that would be later when everything is calm and back to normal” I replied and she nodded
“Okay, I will give you feedback when I come back and please stay indoors, and do your homework in case of anything give me a call, you have my number right?”
“Yes I do, thanks, I appreciate everything you have done for us” I said
“No don’t even mention it, see you in the evening?”She said and pecked me on my forehead before she walked out of the door and went out.
I was feeling hungry so I just went straight to the dining table, breakfast was already served, some coffee, pancakes, eggs and sandwiches
Talia and Pedro later joined me for breakfast, after breakfast we went upstairs to do our assignment. A few minutes into our assignment, Talia came in the room shouting at the top of her voice, I don’t know what was wrong downstairs but I highly hoped t was nothing serious
“Talia what is wrong? Why are you shouting my name? Don’t you see we are busy?” I asked ad gave her a ‘what do you want ‘look
“It’s the news you have to come and see, something terrible happened” she said and rushed out, whatever was on the news might have shaken her, she was crying
