I leaned back in my chair beside my mother, nearly hysterical as tears streamed down my face. Just then, someone draped a towel around me, while Walker gently lifted my mother’s lifeless body, and together we hurried to the hospital in town. Upon arrival, a nurse handed me some scrubs to change into, while Walker was taken elsewhere with my mother. I made my way to Axel's room.
